Taking the Reins

Episode 1

My name is Alessia, that name was given to me by my grandmother, who took care of me when I was orphaned. My mother died in childbirth when I was born; my grandparents were everything to me, they tried to give me the best education, and the best advice, but my grandfather got sick and died leaving me alone with my grandmother Carolina, she was an angel, she took care of everything, and even with her slightly advanced age, she always had the strength to do everything, those were the best days of my life. As I grew up, I helped my grandmother a little, but I never got involved in the business, my grandmother was always somewhat discreet about that, I didn't know why, but it was something I didn't take much importance to, the only thing that mattered to me was spending time with her.

Sadly, my grandmother passed away when I was years old. I was finishing my degree in economics. I didn't know why my grandmother emphasized so much that I should learn it, but I did it to please her, and I also took some other courses. At the funeral, a boy approached me to offer his condolences and when I looked at him I was instantly smitten, his brown eyes hypnotized me, he was a handsome man dressed in a black sweater and khaki pants that looked very well toned but not so appropriate for the occasion, but what did it matter, the room was empty, no one went to say goodbye to my grandmother but that boy and me.

"I'm so sorry," he said in a soft tone, giving me a gentle pat on the back. "I know your grandmother was everything to you, and you to her, from today you have me," smiling as he touches my cheek slowly.

And I fell under his spell, a stupid spell that lasted for 15 years. When I met Lucas I had turned 18 years old, you will wonder how I finished my degree and the courses so quickly, thanks to my grandmother and my good grades, I tried to be excellent in everything, but I didn't know that would be something contrary for me, since being with Luca, he decided to take control of everything, and what I mean by everything, you will know later.

My grandmother inherited me some things, I didn't know very well what they were, I only knew the house where I lived and some properties, and a family business but I didn't know what it was about or what the branch was, when I was left alone and helpless, Lucas asked me to marry him and I married without thinking, he moved into my house and asked me to sign some documents so that he would have certain power in what my grandmother left me, he would take care of the business and I would take care of our little son. Everything happened so fast, the death of my grandmother had me inconsolable that the only ones who relieved my burden were Lucas's arms and so I became pregnant, of my little Farid.

My son became my priority for years, and while his father managed the patrimony I was a simple housewife, my grandmother's dreams that one day I would exercise my career were forgotten with my new family and I was buried equally.
