Episode 5

Two Weeks Later

It had been two weeks since Heidi and Jake died. It wasn’t just them that died in those two weeks, though. There were fifteen others. The police still haven’t found out who killed any of them yet. The murderer is very good at what they’re doing.

As the police looked in closer to each case, they realised that each of the victims had one thing in common with each other. Each of them were bullies. The police questioned all the people that they bullied but none of them killed the bully. As they continued to look closer, the police noticed that, for each of the victims, there was one person that they bullied but none of them knew their name, not even their parents, siblings or friends. No one could remember what they looked like, either. The only thing they could say about them was that they were a girl, they had black hair and they carried a cold look about them. At this moment, the police are still trying to find this girl as they believe she probably killed them.

‘Boo!’ yelled Sybil.

‘Ah!’ Anna screamed, falling off her bed.

‘Ha, ha! I got you!’ laughed Sybil, pointing at Anna on the floor and laughing.

‘That’s not fair,’ huffed Anna, holding onto her bed and pulling herself up off the floor.

‘What’s not fair about it? I got you fair and square.’

‘You came out of nowhere. It was like you erased your presence.’

‘I’m good at hiding and sneaking up on people. I taught myself at the orphanage. I could easily sneak up on someone and kill them if I had to.’

‘I’d like to thing you wouldn’t do that.’

Sybil ignored that comment and continued to watch the program on Anna’s tv.

‘This is so frustrating,’ complained Sybil. ‘Why can they not just get together and kiss already?’

‘Love is complicated,’ replied Anna, answering Sybil’s question. ‘It’s not that easy. It takes a lot of nerve to even ask the person out.’

‘They should just ask each other out while they can. They shouldn’t wait until it’s too late.’

‘Yeah.’

Anna grabbed the remote on her bed and turned the tv off. She then crossed her legs and turned around to face Sybil. Sybil looked at Anna, confused. She was lying down on Anna’s bed, her head hanging off it in a very uncomfortable position.

‘Sit up,’ ordered Anna, struggling to look at Sybil as her head hung off the bed. It looked like she was using all the strength in her neck to hold her head up.

Sybil got up and sat opposite Anna. Staring at her like a confused puppy.

‘Girl talk time,’ said Anna, smiling.

‘Girl talk?’ asked Sybil, sounding very confused.

‘It’s hard to explain. Anyway, Sybil, do you have a crush on anyone?’

‘No.’

‘Seriously? You aren’t even a little bit interested in someone?’

‘Not at this school, no. Are you?’

‘I used to like Jake but I realised that he was way out of my league. Although, I do suppose Charles is kind of cute.’

‘I could see you two getting together.’

‘Really?’

‘Yeah.’

‘Ok, that’s me done. Was there anyone you ever had a crush on, Sybil?’

‘Yeah, there was.’

‘Who?’ asked Anna, a spark of excitement spreading across her face.

‘His name was Alastor,’ said Sybil, looking like she was thinking about memories that she said with him. ‘He also lived in the orphanage. We were dating.’

‘Aw, that’s so cute.’

Both their names are so weird.

‘Are you two still dating?’ asked Anna, wanting to know more about their relationship.

‘In real life, no. In spirit, yes,’ said Sybil.

‘What do you mean?’

‘He’s dead.’

Anna’s face immediately dropped. ‘I’m so sorry that happened. May I ask how he died?’

‘He was killed by people in the orphanage who hated him. They were both getting adopted so the two people thought they should kill him as they’d never see him again.’

‘Who are they?’

‘Jeremiah and Carlos.’

Anna immediately recognised the names. ‘You mean, the two people who were murdered on the news, along with fifteen others?’

‘Yes. Now they know what it was like for Alastor.’

‘Did they bully you?’

‘Yes. They did. For my homeless person looks, black hair, pale skin, colourless eyes and cold look. They bullied me about everything. When they left to go to their foster families, I told them that I would come back for revenge.’

‘What did you have in mind?’

‘I’m afraid I can’t say that. Besides, I already did what I needed to.’

‘What was that?’

‘Can’t say.’

Poor Sybil. I feel so sorry for her. Although, I do wonder what she means by “I already did what I needed to do.” I know she didn’t murder them…I think…I hope. No, Sybil’s not the type of person to murder someone, right?

Anna looked at Sybil with a worried look on her face, uncertain if she was a murderer or not. Sybil looked at her and innocently smiled. She looked to sweet with the smile. Although, to Anna, she still seemed to have the small look of a murderer in her eyes.

No, stop it Anna. Sybil is not a murderer. She’s not that kind of a person. Besides, she only named two people who bullied her. It’s not like there were fifteen others.

‘Did anyone else bully you, Sybil?’ asked Anna, hoping Sybil would answer as she wanted her to.

Sybil looked at Anna and stopped smiling. A cold look suddenly formed on her face as she hesitated to answer. ‘Including those two, there are twenty-five others.’

‘Oh, right, sorry to hear that.’

Good. There have only been fifteen murders. I just hope that this kill count doesn’t go up to twenty-five. It shouldn’t as Sybil is not a murderer, right?

‘Well,’ began Sybil, ‘there are twenty-five who actually bullied me. There are thirty-seven who I want to get revenge on if you include people who bullied others.’ As Sybil said that, a evil smile formed on her face.

Anna nervously smiled, trying to get the thought of Sybil being a murderer out of her head. When she thought it went away, Sybil got a notification on her phone and Anna saw her home screen. Anna could not unsee what she saw on that home screen.
