#5 this is an abusive relationship!

Suddenly, as we were catching our breath in a dark alley, I realized that I had lost the necklace Matthew had given me.

My breathing became even faster, as tears threatened to escape my eyes.

- I lost the necklace..., I whispered, my voice shaking with anguish. Julia placed a hand on my shoulder, trying to calm me down.

- Relax, we'll find it, she said confidently. Nicole nodded, agreeing with her friend.

- You probably left it at the club. We'll find a way to go back there and look for it.

But the weight of losing the necklace was much more than I could bear. That necklace was a family heirloom, belonging to Matthew's deceased mother.

It meant so much to him, and I knew he would be devastated if he found out I had lost it.

Matthew is going to be so upset with me for losing the necklace..., I murmured, looking at the floor in sadness.

Julia placed her hands on my face, forcing me to look into her eyes.

- If he gets mad at you, you just ignore him. That's what I do with my boyfriend when he's mad. Don't let it ruin our adventurous moment, she said, trying to make me smile.

However, something inside me knew that I couldn’t ignore my feelings for much longer. I decided that I needed to work things out with him before things got any worse.

As soon as I said goodbye to Julia and Nicole, I headed home. I knew that I needed to confront Matthew and resolve our issues once and for all. When I got to his house, I found him sitting on the couch with a stern expression on his face.

I told him about how I had lost my necklace and how angry he had been with me. His reaction was worse than I expected. He wouldn’t listen to me, he just kept yelling and telling me how irresponsible I was. The tension in the air was palpable, and I knew that I wouldn’t be able to calm the situation.

That’s when Matthew lost control and pushed me against the wall. My breath caught in my throat, and all my worries about our relationship came flooding back. Without another word, I ran out of his house, leaving all the hurt and sadness behind.

I found refuge in a nearby park, where I sat on a bench and tried to calm my racing mind. It was there that I met a stranger who offered me a joint. Without thinking twice, I accepted and let the smoke envelop my thoughts.

As I watched the clouds drift by in the sky, I realized that I had to make a decision. I could no longer ignore the problems in my relationship with Matthew. It was time to face the situation head on and decide what was best for me.

I decided to go to Matthew’s house to talk and try to resolve our issues. When I got there, I was greeted with a look of surprise from him. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but I had to be honest.

Matthew, we need to talk, I said, as he invited me in. We sat on the couch in the living room and I began to expose all my feelings and concerns regarding our relationship.

It was then that I decided to reveal to him that I had betrayed his trust with a stranger. His reaction was immediate and explosive. Matthew stood up quickly and accused me of being a slut. Those words hit me hard, but I knew I had to face the truth.

It was your actions that led me to this, Matthew. I no longer feel valued and respected in this relationship, I replied, firm in my words.

He was shocked by my honesty and, in a fit of anger, punched me in the stomach. The physical pain was insignificant compared to the emotional pain I had been carrying for so long.

I'd rather be a slut than an idiot who gets beaten up by a man just because she lost a necklace! I said, letting out the words that were stuck in my throat.

Matthew's eyes filled with tears and regret. He knelt before me and asked for forgiveness for his violent and disrespectful actions.

I feel like a complete idiot for acting this way. I promise I will never hurt you again, love. Please give me a chance to make things right, he pleaded, with sincerity in his voice.

For a moment, I hesitated in my decisions. There was still love between us, but there were also traumas and hurts that needed to be overcome.

With mixed feelings, I spat in Matthew's face and got up from the couch. I knew I couldn't take back my words and actions. It was time to move on and seek what was best for me, even if it hurt.

I can't continue in this relationship any longer, Matthew. I need to get away from you and seek my own happiness. Goodbye, I said, as I left his house with determination in my steps.
