Max pov :

I lie in bed not knowing what to do . She looked like sunrise with her short brown hair and her lovely dark green eyes ... After 2 years she seemed more mature , but yet so childish .

when I first met her ..

she was in Junior high ..and I was still in high school.

when I was constantly bullied ..it was Cassy who would always stand up for me ..i didn't know her at first but ,

One day when when I was getting beat up again..

Cassy ran up to me , and defended me as usual.i felt miserable . I eventually tried to tell her off not wanting Cassy to get involved in my mess .

Cassy held her stance and screamed at them

" Why are you beating him up ?! what did he ever do to you ?"

They just laughed and told her to step aside , which she agressively denied to do so .

After that I heard her yelp in pain . I quickly looked up to see .

I've seen one of them rub their knuckles and the others laughing at her .

I saw her frail body shaking on the ground .That moment something inside me snapped.

the next moment , I had hit the middle guy with a rock onto his head , causing him to stumble and fall on his back .

By that time the other two had launched themselves on to me . I kicked one on his gems causing him to moan in pain .The last one was trying to hold in his shock or fear .He threatened me and left the scene shortly after.

when I looked down I saw the little brave girl ..staring at me in complete shock . I smiled weakly .

I asked then , " what's your name ?"

she didn't break our eye contact and whispered " Cassy .."

I held my hand out to her and said

" hi Cassy , I'm max "

she then returned my smile and I walked her back home .

I asked her on the way " hey..I wanted to ask you ..." She turned to me , and I could see that bruise on her cheek .

I hesitated ..but finally asked her why did she do what she did ..trying to defend me and putting herself on the line for someone she didn't even know.

She looked at me a bit confused . She then smiled and said " I didn't need to actually, know you to see that you needed help "

I looked away sheepishly

" I didn't need your help "

We started arguing and I actually kind of liked talking to her .

we became good friends shortly after .

I used to walk with her to and from the school everyday . she was fierce yet so innocent , I was hooked onto her . I dreaded the weekends , because those were the only days I wouldn't see her . I never called her because I was scared to. I didn't want her to think I was clingy on her .

There was a convenience store two blocks away from her house .

I thought maybe I could make it seem like I was just passing by.

I put on my blue T shirt and dark jeans , brushed my hair and when I looked at myself in the mirror..

I noticed that ..I was getting all excited and happy thinking about her .

I knew ...I liked her .

I didn't know I was smiling untill I came out of my trance .

I got up , ready to see Cassy .

When I got to the store ..I saw Cassy's mom at the counter . she was working there. she looked just like Cassy only more older and but her eyes were different hers were brown I guess.

she noticed me staring at her . she looked behind her to make sure I was actually looking at Her .

But I averted my gaze and bought my stuff from her and walked out .

" well..that was awkward " I thought . when I was walking past her house ..I saw her balcony ..but she wasn't there..

I prayed ; please come out , come out , so I could see you before I head home .

Or come out , see me and invite me in . I started walking slower by the second.

But my prayers felt unanswered ..when I had passed her home walking extremely slow. I felt disappointed. not at her , but myself.

I started walking faster , feeling frustrated. I scratched my head and my palms were in fists.

i bit my lips and held in a sob . I felt pathetic , I dressed all up ..brought up my introverted *** down here , all for a slight possibility .

I didn't even have the guts to call or text her ..forget showing up at her house .

I walked with her to school , because she asked me to.

I thought ..I was A loser .
