Chapter 4 : The Journey

I walk along the tree-line leading to the west, hoping it would lead to Indiana, where my mom's old pack was. My father and most of our pack members wasn't the slightest bit interested in how our home continent looked like or the what ridiculous names these non-shifters came up to name their states. But my mother, being his mate, and only weakness, she demanded that our pack's new generation had to at least be bit educated about our land what they call America....

I didn't really care about these silly things humans came up with and was always training or thinking about hunting forms, again I wasn't the best student.....

My ears react to a slight movement to my right, it wasn't a threat, but what I smelt was foreign... like a scent I've never smelt before, it was disgusting! Nothing of it smelt natural! Beacuse our pack was always surrounded by nature we were only exposed to fresh air, but the more I travelled the worse the air got and now this stench?

My father once told me that when my mother first came there most of the pack members stayed clear of her, not only cause she was Luna but she stunk of chemicals. Like you know she was brought up in a more modern pack and wore prefume, which she was already used to but that foreign scent stung the noses in the pack... she once tried to put some on me, but I went frantic when its smell reached my nose. I was horrified that humans could twist nature in such an unnatural way as they did.

This was the exact feeling I had. The only thing in my mind was that there are non-shifters near! Curiosity came the better of me to sneak a glance at these foreign creatures, even my wolf was interested, which was really rare. I observed their bodies which was identical to our human forms, but their movements are more natrual, smooth, that fascinated me. How these creatures that move so natural but smell nothing like nature, definitely wierd.

....

I've been traveling through these trees for a month now, still no sign of Silver Moon pack.... although the few small packs I came across assured me this was the right direction, some of the packs here is quite friendly not acting rashly when a rogue enters their territory. My pack for certain were the type to kill first and ask quiestions later.

I also met with fellow rogue and how heart warming their welcome was (sarcasm), when they tried to rip out my throat! Not as if they really stood a chance against me, but damn, they really did damage. I managed to kill the three rogues with minimal injuries excluding the bite on my throat. I can see why my pack would rather kill fist...

Some would think to be in their wolf for an month straight was torture, but for me a feral it is natural. When we turn 15 we shift, most of of us, and then at 16 we spend 6 months in wolf training and hunting. Some of our pack elders I haven't even seen out their wolf in my whole 17 years of life! And eating raw meat is also second nature for me... we even eat it raw at home in our human form, although mom always roast or cook hers, saying it would give me worms.

Thinking back at her smile and strange behaviour, alien to our ferals, it always baffled me why she would have allowed such a drastic change of life style? Was it really just the mating bond being to strong or was it something else?
