Chapter 3 : Nightmares

I'm running through the woods.... I can't see were I'm going nor smell the air or hear the sounds around me! I would have thought I was running down a dark path with no end, if I didn't bump into what felt like a tree every few seconds.

Frustration got the best of me and so I began stamping the ground as hard as possible, letting my anger escape. Suddenly the ground disappears, or rather give way from under me. Allowing me to fall in a rectangular pit.

I stumble back onto my feet and regaining my balance as the ground is moving downwards towards the depth of the earth. I tilt my head upword just to see my parents, in wolf form, mother's beautiful white wolf and blue eyes and father's black wolf with silver eyes, staring right back at me! How is this possible? I know they died, I couldn't feel their presence or smell it.... it was as if they're a fiction of my imagination.

I try to make contact, hoping it will prove I'm not going crazy and come to my rescue! I try to howl but my jaw isn't moving to my command, neither is any of my limbs. All I can do, is stare up towords to the moon...

A lot of wolves find comfort in the moon, beacuse the moon-goddess, Luna, who was the first ever Luna of our kind... She accomplished a lot of great things in her time in our world, the more popular one is that she granted us mates! A special blessing to find our perfect one!

I'm desending faster now, I can only make out the moon now... a small round silver light in the darkness above. Am I going to die?

My eyes wip open trying to adjust to the sudden ray of light blinding them. I've over slept. I turn around, smelling at the air for foreign scents and listen for any large creatures lurking in my 5 mile range...

After 5 minutes, I'm convinsed they didn't find me. I know it is only a slim possibility that they even know I'm still alive never mind trying to track me, but it's still possible....

It's been 5 days since they attacted, and murderd my pack, every night I have nightmares of it... our packs Oracle, someone who can speak the spirits and stuff, to be honest I was never interested in learning more about them, told us that every dream and nightmare has a meaning to it you just have to find it.

I think back to my dream.....

Firstly, I was running in darkness, nothing special. My last dreams were in different situations and some of them I was chased. I just think my brain couldn't come up with something more original...

Next, I fell in a sinking pit and I saw my parents... It's a first for the pit, but my perants have been in most of my dreams, could there be a meaning? I try to think back to the Oracle's lessons, did she say something of dead family members in your dreams? I can't quite remember.

So what is the common factor in all my nightmares?

Then it hit me, well actually I walked into a tree which pulled me out of thought... looking up in the sky I see a faint shape, the moon! I realise it's the moon, that's the common factor in all my dreams. At the end of each one, I saw the moon!

Ok Laeh, think!

What does the moon represent? Lesly is my wolf, she isn't the overly talkative or emotional type which I think is best for me. I could feel she was suffering of my parents death but she cept strong not allowing herself to howl all the time, what most of the other wolves did.

The moon-goddess.

Who does she represent?

Luna? A pack? Love? ... That's it, mates! She is mostly known as the blesser of love, mates!

I start troting because of my brilliance to have figured it out, but wait, what does mates have to do with me? Does it mean I'm going to meet my mate? I've never had the need for a mate. I aways thought family was enough...... I guess the statement of, when you find an answer there will be another thousand questions waiting, is true....
