Mysterious End

"Here." Sara places the tray with tacos, hamburgers, and coke on the table and then sits beside me while I keep on roaming my eyes around.

"What are you looking for?" she looks at me quizzically.

him... "Ah, I was thinking about the gang, they don't come here for lunch?"  Don't tell me the school provides a special place for those four to enjoy leisure time!

"They do, but  I just told you to stay away from them even if you've got a crush on any one of them, hold yourself back," she says nonchalantly with her mouthful, making me choke on my drink at her veracity.

"I don't have any crush,  it's just that I want to know more about them and that's it."  or to be specific,  want to know about him, the 'Trevor Weirick'.  I want to find out who he actually is and why does he look so familiar. It would be so damn easy if my memory would have served me right, for once.

"What do you want then? be friends with them?" She says with a hint of annoyance in her voice.

"What's wrong in that?" I shrug and take a large bite of my veg taco. Though I would never be a friend of someone who can really be in a gang but as they don't hurt innocents I am okay with that too.

"What's wrong in that?" she mocks me by saying it the way I said and adds, "Summer, I just told you they are in a GANG. Nothing is right in being friends with them."

"Well, the gang thing can also be a rumor."

"It's not," she utters instantly with such a confidence that I believed it for a moment too. I don't know why but when Sara talks about them, it seems that she knows them personally and far better than anyone else in the whole school because any other person will consider a gang and its members in a school to be sort of criminals or something illegal but she keeps on saying that though they are in a gang, dangerous but they are not bad. They don't bully or hurt innocents and yet she wants me to stay away from them. I just don't understand her.

"Come on even if they are secretively in a gang, nothing is bad about it as you said earlier they don't harm innocents. I believe everyone has a secret of their own, so it's fine if that is their secret." I say well aware of my last statement and she looks away from me as if she is also hiding something.

"Fine, go ahead, be friends with Reid and Jace, and eventually you'll end up in the bed of one of them," she speaks casually adding more, "That's what a female friend is to them."

I gaze at her as she continues, "The other two are way out of your league, you can't even befriend them. As for Nathan, you can like him or love him  from afar, he seems different but  when you try to get close to him, ultimately he will also act like a retarded rude person like his other friends." She mutters softly with hurt evident in her voice.

Holy shit! Sara likes Nathan or may be used to like him or whatever but it is, for sure. This piece of information is quite early to process, so I try to bring the Trevor in between to drag Nathan out of the conversation.

"What about Trevor?" I ask normally as if I didn't listen to the 'Nathan-love-feelings' part at all and she feels relieved for that too.

She leans in close, to avoid other students from overhearing us. "Now he is someone interesting. I, along with the whole school have witnessed the cold bastard insulting every girl who approached him in the past, there's not even a single girl who tries to get in touch with him and doesn't end up crying," for  a moment her eyes lit up as she adds, " Even Brittany."

"Really?" I ask, amused and she nods.

"Okay I got you, but I want to really thank him for earlier."

"Thank, Trevor?"

I nod and she suddenly starts to laugh. "You are stupid Summer. Believe me, he doesn't care and will not even value your thanks, not to mention he doesn't deserve it in the first place. You fell into his arms, it was not like he came to save you like a knight in shining armor," she continues to laugh before shaking her head in disapproval. Out of the four, she seems to hate Trevor the most but what he could have possibly done to earn such hatred by her.

"It's alright, I'll manage."

"Suit yourself, don't come to me crying after he insults you," she ends the discussion and wipes her hands with the napkin.

The bell rings indicating the end of the break. Unfortunately, she is not in my next two classes, so I have to go alone.

She walks towards her baking class waving at me before entering while I make my way in the opposite direction.

My next period class is a lab as I have chosen chemistry as an additional subject. I take a seat at the second last slab and wait for my mates as there is no one in the lab except me.

I might be early.  "Or you might be in the wrong class," my subconscious remarks.

I smirk at my subconscious when students start to fill in and my eyes go wide when I notice Reid and Jace coming along them...will Trevor be with them too?  Gee, I've seen this guy just once properly and have attended only three out of four pre-lunch break classes with him, though during all I was stealing glances and now I am already searching for him like a lovesick puppy. I can't be in love with him. Love, at first sight, is not my thing ..or is it?

"It's the impact of those stupid cliche romance books you read every single night," my subconscious comments and for the first time in a while, I agree with her. No one would believe that the famous street fighter is the girl who also reads romance based novels as a bedtime hobby to quench the lack of romance in her own life.  And It's true that whatever I have read till date, in all those fairy world books there is a description of how the princess meets the prince charming for the first time and she feels him to be different from all and then series of events start. Maybe because I somehow feel Trevor to be different, familiar and mysterious of all, I am thinking about him more than necessary obviously driving inspiration from those cliche stories.

I shake all the thoughts away and observe Reid spotting me. He strides towards my seat and I watch Jace following him. The seats on my left and right are already occupied, so there is no fucking chance they are going to sit with me but to my utter surprise Reid glares at the guy on my left side and that guy immediately vacates the seat....the hell!  while Jace just smiles at the girl on my right and asks her to let him sit, and guess what? they both are sitting with me and I am right in between them now.

"Hi again, Summer." Reid greets with his signature smirk on his face and I greet him back.

"Hi, beautiful," Jace says and I furrow my brows at him. In his response, he gives me his toothy grin...oh lord, why these boys have to be so beautiful. Instantly, I imagine Trevor with a smiling face. He must look so effing beautiful, exceptionally charming.

"Hey, why are you smiling at me like that, it's intoxicating," Jace mutters in his throaty voice.

"Huh?" I am smiling?

Shit! this Trevor guy is really messing with my head.

"Frankly, up close to her, I can understand why you were so adamant to get a seat with her. She is damn sexy bro." Jace says to Reid as if I  am not even present here. Sara was so right, these two are nothing but playboys with triggered sex hormones. I choose to ignore both of them as our chemistry teacher walks in and explains about the experiment we have to perform today, and she chooses today of all days to direct us to get ourselves in a group of three for the rest of our course to perform experiments and before my brain can comprehend the situation, Reid announces me to be with him in his group along with Jace ...for the whole course. WHY?

It doesn't surprise me a bit when all the heads, especially of girls move back with such a speed which was enough to have their necks snapped, to see me, the newbie who is getting favors from their candy boys. Most of them give me nasty looks and the looks screaming, 'Who the hell are you, bitch?'

Trust me, ladies, I am not asking for it. These guys are getting way too generous and I am starting to doubt, why?

We are currently doing the titrations, something about volumetric analysis in chemistry and to be honest, they both are not that bad although they are nasty but too funny. They don't seem dangerous at all to me. But what I am not able to perceive is why are they being so friendly. If whatever Sara said about them is true and even if it is not then I saw it clearly in the morning they are not the social type of guys. Maybe out of four of them Jace and Reid seem little playful but still, it's not very difficult to make it out that they are also not the type of guys who will initiate the conversation on their own. They all have got their hubristic belief hanging in there.

"Hey, the burette is leaking, focus." Jace yawps and closes the nozzle of the leaking burette making me snap out of their behavior analyzation.

Just after that, the bell rings and as I have been waiting for this day at school to get over the sound of the bell seems nothing less than the sweetest melody to my ears. The lab gets less and less crowded as my fellow students move out but I slowly pack my bag while both  Reid and Jace stare at me causing the question to stir in me again so I decide to ask them.

"May I know, why you guys are being exceptionally sweet to me? I highly doubt this is not your natural way of welcoming newbies." I quirk my brow up and for a moment register, a startled look on their faces like their plan has been exposed but soon they cover it by cackling in delight.

Reid, after laughing for god knows how long decides to answer my question but in his odd manner. He takes a step towards me and as I scan the lab, it's only we three, he, Jace, and I.

I think he really enjoys daunting people.

"You are exceptionally beautiful Summer and that is enough to explain the exceptional treatment you are receiving," he says hoarsely adding a seductive tone to his words and rolls a wisp of my chestnut brown hair in between his fingers smoothly. I tilt my head with an expression on my face clarifying; his compliment absolutely bored me and meanwhile see Jace doubling up in laughter from the corner of my eyes as he says, "Bro, she doesn't even flinch at your seductive try and mind you she is the first. Damn! All hail the boss lady, Summer." I smile a little as he kowtows to me and Reid glares daggers at him.
