Episode 5

A strange feeling spread through my body.

The world spun around me, like the air had bent, like time had frozen for a second.

And then…

We were somewhere else.

I don’t know how.

A dark alley, with old streetlights and the sound of water dripping from a rusty pipe.

I couldn’t understand anything.

I was gasping for breath, finally able to ask:

— “What did you do? Where… where are we? What do you want from me?”

He was standing still, hands in the pockets of his coat.

His eyes were just as cruelly calm.

— “Don’t be scared. I won’t hurt you.

I just want to talk…

Before the others find out I’ve found you.”

The others?

What others? I wished he wouldn’t speak so cryptically!

I held my head, like the world had suddenly become heavier…

Everything was blurry. The alley lights flickered, and my mind was full of questions, doubts, fear—and something else I couldn’t name.

I walked a few steps, dazed and unsteady.

Then I turned quickly on my heel to demand what the hell he had done to me—

And crashed into his chest.

His chest… it was solid and warm. More solid than I expected.

For a moment, I lost my breath.

God… we were so close.

It felt like time had stopped. I could hear my heartbeat pounding in my ears.

I stepped back—just enough to speak.

My voice came out, breathless:

— “Who are you? What’s your name? How did you move so fast? And why do you want to take me with you?!”

A small smile appeared at the corner of his lips. His gaze stayed fixed on me.

— “Wow, you talk a lot…

Have a little patience, girl. You’ll get your answers soon enough.”

His words ended, but his eyes didn’t leave mine. Like someone who had finally found something they’d been searching for.

— “You don’t know what you are yet, Lia.

But I… I can feel it.

You’re mine.”

My brain short-circuited. I thought I’d misheard him. I blinked, tilted my head and said in disbelief:

— “Excuse me? What did you say?

I’m yours?!

You haven’t even told me your name! Where do you get off saying something like that? That’s insane!”

He locked eyes with me, straight into my soul, like he could read it.

And with that same calm, serious tone, he said:

— “My name is Alex.

And I can’t tell you everything right now… but you have to come with me.

You’re mine, Lia.

Sooner or later, you’ll feel it too.”

I shook my head and stepped back.

— “No… I have no reason to believe you.

You’re a stranger who just appeared in my room in the middle of the night. I still don’t even understand how we got here.

And now you want me to go with you? Just like that?!”

I turned to walk away from him, but I hadn’t taken more than a few steps when a sound echoed behind us…

Voices.

I froze.

Three figures emerged from the shadows of the alley.

Dressed in dark clothes, eyes glinting, with a strange, cold energy in the air around them.

They weren’t ordinary. They weren’t here by accident.

Alex immediately stepped in front of me.

His body tall and ready to defend.

Silence filled the air, heavy and still.

And me, in the middle of my fear, felt something deep inside…

Something that wouldn’t let me move away from him.

Even without doing anything, his presence was protective.

One of them stepped forward. Tall, silver hair, eyes filled with some unsettling stillness. He spoke in a cold voice:

— “What an unexpected reunion, Alex.

Alone? Or did you bring this little thing for comfort?”

Alex said nothing. Didn’t even blink.

He just clenched his fists slightly and stepped toward them.

I still stood on the side, stunned, frozen, my heart racing.

Not from fear of those men… but from the strange feeling in Alex’s eyes.

There was something there. A restrained rage. An old pain.

The second man laughed. His voice like nails on glass:

— “Trying to protect her?

Since when did you become a hero, oh king without a crown?”

And at that moment, I saw something in their eyes… something subtle but suspicious.

It only took a second, but I noticed their sharp, curious glance at me.

One of them raised an eyebrow.

— “Pretty girl… So you’re the one he’s gone through all this trouble for?”
