Chapter 4 — Dance on the Blade

In the underground tunnels beneath the Rathore estate, Riaan Varma walked silently, his face unreadable.

He stopped before a steel door.

Inside, a figure sat in the shadows — wrists chained, face bruised but defiant.

Amara Rathore.

Alive.

Breathing.

“Riaan,” she whispered, her voice cracked.

“Why are you here?”

He crouched, key in hand.

“Because you’re the only one who can stop your brother.”

Amara’s eyes flared.

“You want to save Aarya?”

Riaan’s jaw clenched.

“No.”

“I want to save them both — before they burn the whole world down.”

...----------------...

Aarya paced the velvet-wrapped bedroom, nails digging into her palms.

She needed an ally.

She needed an escape.

A soft knock at the door.

“Go away, Samrat.”

But it wasn’t Samrat.

Riaan stepped inside, dressed in black, eyes sharp and calculating.

“I’m not your enemy.”

Aarya laughed coldly.

“You work for the devil.”

Riaan’s mouth twitched.

“True. But devils can betray each other.”

He tossed a small dagger onto the bed.

“When the time comes… use it.”

Aarya’s fingers closed around the blade, heart pounding.

“Why help me?”

Riaan’s eyes darkened.

“Because your enemy isn’t Samrat.”

“It’s the council.”

...MEANWHILE — SAMRAT...

...****************...

Samrat leaned over the balcony, cigarette between his fingers, watching the night burn.

He knew she was planning something.

He wanted her to.

“Come on, princess…” he murmured.

“Show me your claws.”

A phone buzzed in his pocket.

Vishram (Council Elder): “Deliver her or die, Samrat.”

Samrat’s jaw tightened.

He crushed the cigarette under his boot.

“Fuck you, old man.”

... MIDNIGHT...

...****************...

Aarya slipped through the halls, dagger hidden under her sleeve.

Her breath was ragged, her heart a hammer inside her chest.

She rounded the corner — and slammed right into Samrat.

“Going somewhere, wife?”

His voice was soft, deadly.

Aarya shoved the blade against his throat.

“Let me go.”

Samrat’s eyes glittered.

“Do it.”

“Kill me, princess.”

Her hand trembled.

She hated him — hated him so much it hurt.

But she couldn’t drive the knife in.

Samrat smiled faintly, fingers closing around hers, gently pulling the dagger away.

“That’s what I thought.”

He pressed his forehead to hers, breathing hard.

“You’re mine, Aarya.”

“No one touches you. Not even the council.”

...🌒 IN THE SHADOWS...

Riaan watched from the doorway, eyes narrowed.

He whispered under his breath:

“They’re going to destroy each other.”
