Chapter 5

Continuation (⁠*⁠＾⁠3⁠＾⁠)⁠/⁠～⁠♡

\= Day 2 Early Morning \= around 3 am

"Damn, If we go out now we could be killed like those people" Gia said nervously. "Yup, I guess we are lucky to be here, although our house is better though." Macie said with Aylene and Gia agreeing with her.

(Author's note: They have lived together since childhood, Aylene, Macie, Gia were orphans but once they turned 18 they decided to buy a house and yes they have a work at a young age because the orphanage has favoritism among the kids and the three not part of it, The workers who manage the orphanage made the trio do all the chores while taking the credit for themselves when the sponsor came to check on them, That's why they decided to leave the place.)

"I don't like it when we are doing nothing but to wait" Aylene said while grumbling. "I agree but at this point this is the only safe place for now" Macie said while leaning her head to Aylene. "By the way guys we need to wash our clothes and remember we only have two pairs of clothing" Gia said in a tired tone. "Good how about we wash our clothes? This can probably help us to sleep" Macie said while asking the two. "Sure, but I'll wipe the hallway grills first while you two prepare the bathroom" Aylene said while the trio are standing up to do their business.

\= After Aylene finished cleaning the grills \=

She also came to the bathroom to clean her clothes. "You are finally here's the soap good thing Macie bought some earlier" Gia said while washing her clothes. "Thanks, but I have a question do you think we are able to go home?" Aylene said worriedly. "Yah but at a slow pace" Macie said quietly. "And if we go faster we might be able to go home but are injured or worse de@d, I don't want that to happen" Gia said frowning. Both Aylene and Macie nodded agreeing at what Gia said.

\= After they are done washing their clothes \=

"Oh look at that the sun is rising" Macie said with a bright smile while covering her eyes. The trio finished hanging their clothes, and they went back to their classroom to sleep after tiring themselves from cleaning and hanging their clothes. They close the door and lock it for safety, and go to sleep together peacefully.

\= Far outside the XXX School \=

A building exploded causing a power line interruption and no one will take care of it because of the infection still spreading from left to right and half of the population died in the process. This affected a lot of areas in the City. This causes a mass blackout but since it's early in the morning it's not noticeable yet since the weather is cold.

\= In the Afternoon \=

Aylene woke up because she doesn't feel the cold anymore, she stood up and went to the aircon outlet to see what the problem was. When she notices that there's no electricity she goes to the normal electric outlet to check it again but to her disappointment there's still no electricity. Now she's panicking, and she woke up Gia and Macie to tell the news that there's no electricity. After telling the two about the new disadvantage they stand up and decide to go to the hallway to think carefully of the next move.

"Girl, we know each other that we can't survive without electricity this is probably going to last long or even permanently" Gia said frustrated. "Then we have to plan this out right now, after all we can't stay here any longer" Macie said frowning after knowing they are in a bad situation. "Let's check what we have for now" Aylene said while the two agreed with her decision.

\= After checking everything they have \=

"Ok good we can last long outside, but we have to find shelter at night" Aylene said repacking everything. "Why do we have to find shelter for the night?" Macie said with a dumb question before Gia hit her in the head. "Ouh! The heck was that for!" Macie said holding her head. "Sometimes you are smart, and sometimes you are dum dum, you deserve that hit once and of course we have to find shelter to sleep, you know? Duh! We ain't going out there in sleep-deprived mode, and sorry for hitting you, but you need some caffeine to wake that brain of yours" Gia said in sarcastic, but comforting Macie at the end. "Ok ok my bad I didn't get to sleep well, and we haven't eaten anything, yet that's why I'm pretty much high" Macie said her thoughts were still flying because of hunger. "Oh yeah we forgot to eat" Aylene and Gia said in a stunned voice.

\= After eating their food \=

They check on their clothes if it's dry but fortunately to them, it's already dry by the afternoon after they take a nap in the morning, They take it inside the classroom to fold and pack it up nicely before they go out.

They planned to go out tomorrow morning to avoid the infection. They still checked their phone for signal and internet to get an update, but they ultimately gave up after seeing the smoke from the distance thinking that's the cause of the black-out.

\= Nighttime \=

They are still awake and can't sleep because of how active the zombies are at night, before they could sleep it like a normal night because of the aircon, but now they have to sleep in silence for the infected not to hear them. The infected keep moaning, cluttering their teeth, screeching, and sometimes whispering which terrifies the trio more than anything because they're not prepared for departure tomorrow.

They keep thinking what if they don't survive at all, what if one of them becomes infected, what if one of them dies? And many more what if's that it keeps them bothering. They go back to sleep after that mumbling session since they don't want to attract that something shouldn't be.

\= Day 3 Early Morning \=

They sleep a little better today compared to yesterday, but it's still not enough since they still keep hearing those creatures between the walls and ground that's keeping them separated.

Before they go, they create a rule that applies to the three of them.

Rule no. 1: Never trust anyone besides each other.

Rule no. 2: Don't save anyone in the open it's a trap even if it's one of us

Rule no. 3: If infected we need to leave that person behind

Rule no. 4: Don't fall in love with anyone just to risk your other friend's life for someone you like

Rule no. 5: Don't break the rules, if you do, don't expect help from one another, be rational in every situation.

And with those rules they are ready to go out.

They took a shower and wore the clothes from yesterday. Aylene wore a black t-shirt, leggings and rubber shoes, Macie wore a fitted khaki long sleeve shirt with loose pants and rubber shoes, while Gia wore a gray t-shirt and black jacket, stretchable pants and rubber shoes. And they're ready to go with uncertainty.

They are in the hallway next to the back gate trying to open the emergency ladder trying not to alert the infected. When Gia successfully opened it, she checked the surrounding areas if it was s, but there were two infected near the entrance gate on the first floor. Gia told the two about it, Macie said she'll do the favor, and they jumped down the ladder.

(Author's note: the ladder didn't reach the floor they're only a few meters away from the ground so they jumped smoothly without making much sound.)

Macie goes at the back of the school building to go to the court, and she sneaks in while lots of infected are just walking by trying to sense everything. She connected her phone to the speaker, and she ran away and started playing it at a distance. This attracts the infected, so the trio decides to get back on the ladder for a minute until all the infected are inside the court. After some time Macie lowered the volume to decrease the chances of others infected to come to the school, They also jumped down again and ran away silently from the scene. The trio keeps smiling after they escape.
