ch-2: Another chance

When my eyes opened, I saw something strange.

The cat I had saved was talking.

It was standing in front of a glowing man surrounded by small flying creatures with wings. They looked like tiny angels.

I blinked in shock.

“Are you… God?” I asked slowly.

The glowing figure looked at me and smiled gently.

“Yes, I am.”

His voice was calm, but powerful. I could feel it deep inside me.

He looked at me for a moment, then said,

“You have taken many lives—lives I gave. Because of that, I must send you to hell.”

I didn’t say anything. I just stood there, listening.

There was no fear, no regret.Just the usual emptiness in my chest.

But then the cat spoke again.

“No, my lord. She saved me. She helped me in the rain when I had no one.”

I looked at the cat, then back at God.

“It’s fine,” I said. “I know I’m not a good person. I don’t care about going to hell. Just do it.”

God looked surprised. Then… he laughed. A big, deep laugh that filled the whole space.

“Hah! You say you have an awful personality… yet you stopped in a thunderstorm to help a weak little cat?”

The flying angels around him whispered to each other.

Then God smiled.

“Angels, I think she deserves one chance. Not a reward… but a mission.”

He turned to me.

“I want you to go to another world and save a kingdom that is about to fall. I cannot interfere directly in the human world… but you can.”

I frowned.

“No thanks. I’m not some hero. Pick someone else.”

But he raised his hand before I could say more.

“In return,” he said, “you will get the chance to feel love again.”

My eyes widened.

“No—wait, stop—!”

But his finger glowed, and in a second, my body began to fly.

The light grew stronger, and everything around me disappeared.

I was falling. Spinning. Flying.

And then—darkness.

When I opened my eyes again, everything was different.

The ceiling was white, with gold decorations. The walls were pink, soft, and bright. There were toys everywhere. The air smelled sweet.

I sat up easily.

Yes—sat up.

Not like a normal baby struggling to move. My body felt light but strong.

I looked at my hands—tiny, soft, but they moved perfectly. I could make a full fist without any trouble.

“What… is this?” I whispered in my mind.

I moved my legs. Still short, but I had full control.

God must have done something. He said he’d give me a chance. Was this part of it?

Before I could figure things out, the door opened.

A boy walked in. He looked about ten years old. His hair was messy and dark, and his eyes were warm and golden.

When he saw me, his face lit up.

He ran over and picked me up carefully, holding me close.

“Aww! You’re awake! My baby sister is finally awake!”

He smiled so big, I thought his face might break.

“You’re the cutest baby in the whole kingdom!”

“Wait… baby sister?” I thought.

I blinked in confusion.

The room. The fancy crib. The boy calling me “sister.”

Was I really…?

“Don’t tell me I’ve been reincarnated… as a royal baby?”

The boy touched his forehead to mine.

“I’ll always protect you,” he whispered.

My heart paused.

His voice was so gentle, so full of love. Something I hadn’t felt in years.

But I quickly shook it off.

“No. Love doesn’t exist. Love only brings pain.”

Still, I couldn’t ignore the look in his eyes.

So full of care.

“Let’s see how long that lasts,” I thought.

And with that, my new life began.
