First Day Of It All

Today is the first day of school. I am starting off at a new school in a new town, so far I have no friends. I don't believe that any kids live in my neighborhood but I'll manage. I get on the school bus and I see rows full of students, highschool and middle school, I sit down near the driver and have my earbuds blasting 80's rock. When all of a sudden a girl taps me on my should. I look up in confusion and the girl says "Hi, I'm Rose" with a warm and gentle smile. Confused at what she said I take my earbuds out and ask her to repeat herself. Then after she reintroduced herself I say anxiously "Hi, I'm Paige, I just moved here and don't know many people but it's nice to meet you." She could just tell somehow I was afraid of talking to people. We get to the school building and we are all patiently waiting for the bell to ring so all of us middle schoolers can get off the sweaty and crowded bus so that all the high schoolers can get to where they needed to go. I was amazed at how many people where able to go this school because it's on the list of top ten schools in our state. I walk around looking to see if I can see anyone who maybe I could talk to but I only see a wave of students pushing through me. I finally find my locker after rummaging around for a whole 10 minutes and figured out it was only a hall away from Rose's locker. I walk up to Rose and ask what grade she is in so I could know if we would've been in any of the same classes. Turned out that she was in the grade below me. We really only talked on the bus because she was in 7th grade and I was in 8th grade so we didn't really see each other that much during the day. It went on like that for about the first half of the school year. Until one day I had asked her if she would like to hang out, and she surprisingly said yes and I was kind of shocked. So I had no idea where anything was so I had her pick me up and we rode on our bikes for a while just around the neighborhood then we had arrived at a park just down the street from my house. The park wasn't all that large but it wasn't tiny either it had a nice and wide open field for baseball and a playground for younger kids, along with 3 basketball courts and a tennis court. We sat around on the little bench. The entire time talking about our pets and our siblings and what we normally do in our spare time. Shortly after, it was time to get home, and I told her I would see her in school next week and she seemed to be happy.
