New Life, New Identity

"Madam Li, here is your baby." The old woman called to another person in the room while handing the baby to her.

So this Madam Li is my mother in this world.

"Thank you Sara."

My mother has such sweet voice.

"By the way Madam, what are you gonna name him?"

Hearing footsteps approaching them. A man's voice joined the conversation.

"How about 'Haoran'?" asked the man.

"It means being grand in manner and has a great goal" added the man.

"Dear, how about 'Fai'? It resembles beginning which is perfect for our family." Madam Li explained.

"Well, okay. Let's name him Fai. Welcome to our family, my son."

I now have a father...

The unexplainable feeling gushed forth from Alexander, now named Fai. He still can't believe that he now have a father. As a new born baby he could not express himself much that the only thing he can do is cry. Cry with tears of joy. He was overwhelmed. Truly grateful to the Goddess who gave him this chance.

"Uwahh, uwahh, uwaahh..."

"Oh, he might be hungry."

Eh? Ehhhh!? Wha.. Whatttt. Don't tell me.. She's gonna let me suck on that milk factory? I'm not ready yet. Wa... Wa.. Waittttt!!

Fai does not have a choice since he must drink his mother's milk to grow and sate his hunger. He must bear with this predicament for now. Or at least for a couple of years.

Three years have passed and the time for teaching him the basics of the things that he should know has come.

According to his mother, Eril, as she often tells Fai stories before bed, they are in one of the towns of the kingdom of Azure Feather, Crystal Dew Town.

There are other kingdom that shares the continent with them namely, the Blazing Tail Kingdom on the south, the Whirlwind Beak Kingdom on the east, and the Razor Claw on the west. These four kingdoms are the only territory left for the humans wherein each kingdom has their own legendary beasts as their patron and protector.

In the Azure Feather kingdom located on the North, their legendary beast is an azure four-winged bird that controls water and produces icicles on its feather. The humans have been in constant conflict with the demons that lurks in various places and in which its main forces are located in a deep ravine on the far south. There are also other territories that is governed by demi-humans on the far east and the fairyfolk on the far west that stays neutral. The fairyfolk in particular are less sociable to the outside which only sends some ambassadors to the human territory for trading purposes.

One more thing that picked the interest of Fai is the presence of magic and martial arts. Children at the age of four are tested for their magic affinities which is divided into 10 namely fire, thunder, water, ice, wind, space, earth, metal, shadow and light. Light mages are rare but are highly in demand since only their magic can easily destroy a demon unlike other affinities which would require a more arduous effort to destroy one.

The magic affinity test is done early in their childhood in order to train them since there is no telling when would demons apper. A person can have multiple affinities but it depends on them whether on what affinity would they focus on. The more affinities a person have, the harder it is to improve but if one is successful in mastering their magic, their future would be leaps and bounds above others.

Fai's mother, Eril has ice and wind magic affinities while his father, Ron has fire and earth magic affinities.

His parents taught Fai to meditate for the time being as preparation for his affinity test which will be held the next year. Meditation calms ones spirit therefore it allows an individual to have a stronger bond with the mana spirits in the surroundings. For the meantime, aside from meditation, Fai got a head start on learning on how to write and read as well as in handling a wooden sword but all of this are just minor information since most of the things that he should learn about it will be taught in various academies focusing on these specific aspects.

One year later, Fai Li and his parents has left for the capital, Bluemint City to attend the affinity test.

"Fai, you will be testing out your affininties today in the Affinity Tower. Don't worry, no matter what affinity you unlock we are here to support you." Eril said reassuring the nevous Fai.

"That's right Fai, your father is rooting for you! So do your best, okay?" Ron said in a childlike tone to up his son.

"Thank you father, mother." said Fai as their carriage approached the Affinity Tower.

Finally, I will discover what magic affinities am I inclined to. Can't wait for the result.

Upon arriving at the tower, they registered Fai for the test. Unlike what Fai was expecting for an affinity test like any other fantasy filled stories from his past life which uses some sort of orb to place their hands on, the test was way different. The test was held in the second floor of the tower where he saw other children lining up for the test. The current examinee was floating on a flat circular platform. She was surrounded by two faint orb-like lights while meditating. These lights have different colors namely a bright orange one and a silver one.

"Congratulations examinee Quinn! Your affinities are fire and metal. It is quite useful to you since you are a family of blacksmiths." Exclaimed the examiner while shaking the hands of the said examinee.

Well maybe, she's some kind of hotshot in the capital seeing how the examiner treats her.

Getting on someones good side is really important especially if that person is a reputable one. So even in this world that still applies huh?

"Hmph. Of course! I am the future head of my family." replied the girl smugly

She's quite arrogant for her age though. I should not mess up with her. I still can't handle girls expecially when they have that attitude.
