Part 4 — The Silent Proposal
The stadium roared, but the roar couldn't drown the quiet storm brewing in a few hearts.
One of the Shadow Knights leaned toward their leader and asked, “That code… the one you whispered on the call before the match — what did it mean? ‘Shadow oka so voena’? That wasn’t a battle signal.”
Kain’s gaze stayed fixed ahead, his voice low. “It was a proposal. I asked her to marry me.”
The teammate almost dropped his comm-device. “Wait… YOU? Seriously? You proposed? But... when?”
“Five years ago.”
“Five YEARS? Man, girls line up just to talk to you. And you waited for her reply. No offence but she is ugly?”
“She’s not,” he replied calmly. “Pure. Beautiful — more than I can explain. Maybe even more than I understand.”
Without saying more, he turned and walked toward the player seating area.
Up in the audience, a girl sat alone — serene and glowing with quiet energy. Shadow Angel.
As Kain passed by, she lifted her eyes. “Sari,” she said, her voice calm, eyes unreadable.
He stopped. Confused. “ whose marriage is fixed?”
She gave a soft smile. “Omi sai moy main .”
Then, in their secret code — words only Shadow Knights could understand — she said a phrase.
He froze.
The message? "My marriage is fixed."
His breath caught. He turned toward her. “With… who?”
“I made a promise,” she said softly. “My future grandfather in law. I helped him once. He asked, ‘Will you marry my grandson?’ I said, ‘If he accepts me, I will. If not, I’ll never marry anyone else.’ From that moment, I accepted him in my heart. I never looked back. he is also here to play. I will see him first time in my life”
Kain's chest tightened. The world seemed to blur around him, voices distant. For a moment, even time stood still.
His teammate who had been listening on the line whispered, “Bro… she’s loyal to a fault.”
He cleared his throat and asked — just once — “Can I… see the real you? Just once? Not your makeup, not your mask — just enough to know… are you slim, healthy… something. Not for fantasy, just reality.”
She was quiet… then said warmly, “That right belongs only to my husband. And you know that.”
“But still…” he began, then stopped.
She smiled. “I didn’t say I won’t show anything.”
When she touched her arm there was a secret zip. When she opened it a slim arm showed with gloves in hands and sleeves covered with clothes. Just this one proved that she is not overweight of 200 kg, but she could be only 45 kg weighted. She removed lenses and makeup from eyes.
Even Zane whispered under his breath, “So beautiful. She… she is not human.”
Kain smiled finally, bitter yet proud. “No. She’s my shadow. My angel.”
kain’s voice dropped to a whisper. “Kiya…”
That was the first time he spoke her real name aloud in these years.
And she simply looked at him and said, “Kain…” and smiled "my soul friend. Please attend my marriage."
That was the first time she called his real name.
Everyone who had heard the call sat stunned, speechless. No one had expected that moment — the reunion not of two lovers, but of two soul friends who had once bonded strongly. where one loved other but other things him as a sole friend.
