Chapter 5

The sun came up and Nina's alarm rang like crazy but she didn't wake up , Leon walked in and tried to wake her up by calling her name but it didn't work so he decided to sprinkle water on her which he did causing Nina to jump out from the bed then said jeez grandpa

Leon chuckled then said : I'm not your grandpa

Nina : oh sorry, good morning Leon

Leon : morning to you too

Nina : umm so what are you doing in my room this early morning

Leon : umm, Priscilla of a girl is here

Nina : oh my God, I gat to shower, brush (she said while pacing back and forth)

Leon : just chill and prepare

Nina : I'm not girly enough, what should I wear

Leon : what you want

Nina : thanks Leon and you are in high school right

Leon nodded then said I would be true with highschool this year

Nina : oh , that's nice

Leon : anyway let me leave you to freshen up and also my mum and I had already packed your bags

Nina : thanks a lot

Leon : you are welcome (he said then walked away)

Nina was still feeling sleepy but she just entered the bathroom, bath , brush then came out with a towel tied around her then she dried her hair then applied oil on her hair then brushed it , her eyes landed on her , mum , dad, brother , grandpa and grandma picture so she decided to put them inside her bag which she did then she wore a white gown , and let her hair down then she put on lip gloss before carrying her bags, while going downstairs, she bumped into Leon

Nina: how do I look Leon, do I look like a girl

Leon blushed then said you look stunning

Nina: did you just blush

Leon : no I didn't (he lied)

Nina: yes you did

Leon : I didn't

Nina: anyway bye, and thanks for the compliment

Leon smiled then walked away

Nina went to the parlor and saw her aunt Cathy discussing with Priscilla, she greeted them then sat next to her aunt

Priscilla : hey , I'm Priscilla and you

Nina : I'm Nina

Priscilla : nice name , anyways can we get going now

Cathy : sure thing

Nina : sure

Nina hugged Cathy then whispered into her ear "aunt you did not complete the story"

Cathy chuckled then said some other time, I would complete it, be careful ok and read your books and make us proud

Nina : ok aunt

Nina bid her aunt Goodbye before entering Priscilla's car then Priscilla drove away

The ride wasn't fun, the two gave each other silent treatment, but Nina broke the silence by asking" are we there yet "

Priscilla : Not yet

Nina : oh ok

The two became silent again

Nina decided to check her bag, when she opened it she found a new phone and a note from her aunt saying I hope you like the gift and also take care of yourself ok

Nina smiled then decided to check the phone out, to her surprise her aunt number was in it and also Leon's number

She smiled then turned off the phone and kept it inside her bag

2 hours later

They was a huge traffic so Nina decided to whine down the window

as the car moved , she puts her hand outside when suddenly a guy on a bike held her hands, she couldn't see his face cause he was putting on a helmet

Nina was somehow scared so she drew her hand inside then the unknown biker drove away

Nina looked at the plate number of the plate as the unknown guy drove away then she murmured A1-578-24 she said then brought out her diary then wrote the plate number of the bike down on her diary then she said to Priscilla "are we there yet"

Priscilla : Nope

Nina : umm Priscilla

Priscilla : yeah

Nina: what year are you

Priscilla: I'm a third year college student

Nina : umm but my aunt said you just started college

Priscilla chuckled then said "I guess my mum told her another thing"

Nina : I guess she did

Priscilla nodded then said so how old are you

Nina :I'm seventeen and you

Priscilla: I'm twenty

Nina : I see

Priscilla : so what are your likes and dislikes

Nina : eating, cleaning, listening to music, readin,, praying, flowers, singing, writing on my diary and many more while my dislikes are umm well I'm not really sure

Priscilla nodded then said ok

Nina: so what are your likes and dislikes, Priscilla

Priscilla: I like playing video games with my male friends, watching anime, reading manga, I like cooking, hanging with my best friend, riding my boyfriend power bike, singing, playing guitar and many more, while my dislikes "watching romantic movie, dressing like a girl, washing the dishes and many more

Nina: Nice

Priscilla : I guess

Nina : ok

Priscilla : we have arrived (she said then parked the car

Nina stepped out of the car with a quiet sigh of relief.

College was much bigger than she imagined. The buildings were tall, modern, intimidating. Students hurried past her, laughing, chatting, calling out to friends. Priscilla, already halfway across the courtyard, turned back and waved half-heartedly.

“Come on, let’s get your schedule and ID sorted,” she said.

Nina hurried to catch up, gripping her bag tightly.

She wanted to tell Aunt Cathy about the biker from earlier—the one who grabbed her hand so suddenly. But as she reached for her phone, something stopped her. Maybe it was how surreal it felt. Or maybe… a small voice in her chest whispered that she should keep this one thing to herself. Just for now.

She put the phone back in her bag.

Later That Day

After orientation, Nina found herself sitting alone under a wide oak tree just behind the college library. Her diary rested on her lap, pages open. She’d written the license plate from earlier neatly in one corner: A1-578-24.

She tapped her pen thoughtfully.

It wasn’t just that the biker had grabbed her hand—it was how it lingered, how gentle the touch had felt, despite the suddenness. Like he had meant to catch her attention. Like he knew her.

But she had never seen him before. At least, not that she could remember.

“Earth to Nina,” Priscilla said, plopping down beside her. “You’ve been staring into space for ten minutes.”

Nina quickly closed the diary. “Sorry. Just tired, I guess.”

“Well, get used to it,” Priscilla said, stretching. “College doesn’t slow down for anyone"

(Evening – Shared Dorms)

Their shared room was small but cozy. Two beds, one desk, and a small bookshelf they’d agreed to share.

Priscilla was already snoring softly on her bed, tangled in her blankets. Nina lay awake, her head turned toward the window. The night was cold, and her heart even colder.

She missed home.

She missed Cathy’s soft humming while cooking. Leon’s sarcastic remarks. Even Scott the dog barking at random shadows., she missed pearl, she missed her grandpa .

And most of all, she missed… being sure of something. Now, everything felt unfamiliar and slightly off.

Her eyes fluttered shut.

Then—buzz.

Her phone vibrated gently.

A message from an unknown number:

> Unknown Number:

You are Nina right

Nina sat up, heart racing.

She read the message again.

Who would say something like that?

She typed back, fingers trembling:

> Who is this?

No reply.

Just the stillness of the room, and Priscilla’s quiet snores.

Nina sighed out of frustration then laid on her bed then suddenly fell asleep

The Next Day – Art History Class

Nina walked into her second lecture a few minutes early and found a seat near the middle. Students slowly filled the room. The buzz of conversation swirled around her, but she kept her eyes on the front, pretending to study the syllabus.

Then came that sound again.

A soft murmur among the students.

She turned. and noticed

a boy with Helmet tucked under one arm, black leather jacket slung carelessly over one shoulder. The mysterious biker strolled into the room like he belonged there—because apparently, he did.

He didn’t look at her.

Didn’t even pause.

He took a seat near the back, leaned back casually, and pulled out a sketchpad.

Nina’s chest tightened for no reason even though she didn't know him

She couldn’t help it. She peeked over her shoulder once. Then twice.

The third time, he caught her.

Their eyes met—just for a second.

And he smirked.

Not a big smile. Just a soft, knowing smirk.

Nina turned back around, face burning.

Later That Night

Nina sat by the window again, diary in hand. She stared at the words she’d written earlier then she decided to read as she was reading she got a text from that unknown number

> You look better with your hair down.

She didn’t reply instead she wrote it down

then underlined it

Twice.

She wanted to tell Cathy. but she didn't want to disturb her

But instead, she closed her diary, hugged it to her chest, and whispered:

> what's wrong with Me, I just started today and I'm going crazy over an unknown biker boy, she dropped her diary on the bed then continued reading she read for some period of time , before falling asleep on the bed
