Part-3
It had been three weeks since Jungkook escaped.
He didn’t go home. He didn’t go to friends or family. He knew Taehyung would look there first. Instead, he took the cash hidden under the truck’s seat—Taehyung’s emergency stash—and disappeared to a coastal town where no one knew his name.
He cut his hair. Changed his clothes. Barely slept.
Even with the ocean nearby, even with strangers all around, Jungkook couldn’t shake the feeling that eyes were on him. That Taehyung was still out there.
He got a job bussing tables at a seaside café. Kept his head down. Talked little. But every time the bell above the door rang, he flinched. Every time someone said “Kookie” by accident, his blood ran cold.
Then one night, a letter came.
No address. No name. Just a plain white envelope slipped under his apartment door.
He knew when where it came, so he opened it.
TAEHYUNG KIM
I forgive you.
TAEHYUNG KIM
You were scared. I understand.
TAEHYUNG KIM
You were scared. I understand.
TAEHYUNG KIM
Come home, and I won’t be angry.
TAEHYUNG KIM
I miss your voice. I miss your skin. I miss your eyes when you lie to me.
TAEHYUNG KIM
We’re not finished.
There was a small photo tucked inside.
It was taken through a window.
He dropped the letter and backed away from the door, heart pounding so hard he thought it might shatter his ribs. He scanned the windows. Locked them all. Closed the blinds. Turned off the lights.
The next morning, he asked for time off. Told his boss he needed to disappear for a while. Again.
Taehyung was already here.
That evening, as Jungkook packed a small bag, a knock came at the door.
Just like Taehyung used to do before whispering
TAEHYUNG KIM
It’s me, baby
Jungkook froze. Every muscle screamed to move—but his legs betrayed him.
Taehyung’s voice slid through the door. Calm. Smiling.
TAEHYUNG KIM
You know I’d find you. You’re my heartbeat, And heartbeats don’t hide.
The front door’s lock twisted.
