Something about luke

For most people, it was just a single meeting at a wedding.

But for Sasa, it became her favorite genre.

She had always loved movies, especially the romantic ones. She liked to believe in the idea of giving love a chance, even if it sounded foolish. And now, it felt like she was inside one living her own unexpected romance.

She had met the perfect guy at the most random place a wedding. They vibed instantly. Now they were in the “talking phase,” exchanging messages and occasional calls. It felt spontaneous, but to Sasa, it was becoming one of the most beautiful things in her life.

Still, there was conflict inside her.

She didn’t know whether to trust this guy completely. Luke had disappeared for weeks without a word, only to suddenly call as if nothing had happened. And during the call, he was the one who did most of the talking. He asked a lot of questions, and Sasa listened. She wanted to speak too, but something held her back.

She didn’t understand why she was being so shy. Maybe it was fear fear of saying something wrong, of being judged. So instead, she stayed quiet, hoping her silence would leave a good impression.

But then, in the middle of the conversation, something shifted. Her heart soared.

> “Sasa, are you mad?” Luke asked.

> “Mad? Why?” she replied.

> “I asked for your number and then didn’t call.”

> “It’s fine. You’re calling now,” she said, trying to sound casual. “Though honestly, I was kind of expecting your call sooner.”

Luke chuckled.

> “Yeah... I wanted to call you the moment you left, but I didn’t want to creep you out. Then something happened. I had to leave for the countryside on short notice. There was no reception there. I just got back today, and the first thing I did was call you. I was afraid you’d be mad or worse, that you’d forgotten me.”

Her heart melted.

She was over the moon not just because he called, but because he explained everything without her having to ask. It made her feel like she wasn’t the only one feeling something special.

> “Okay, Sasa, I gotta go. Lots of work to finish. I’ll call you later, take care.”

> “Bye, Luke. You too, take care.”

She smiled. His caring tone stayed with her. At the wedding, he hadn’t seemed like the type to say such things. He’d looked distant, almost uninterested. But now this version of him felt warmer, more genuine.

Her whole day sparkled like a star.

She danced to love songs while cleaning her room, cooked with extra care, and even went to work humming. At the office, her joy didn’t go unnoticed.

> “Aren’t you gonna tell me anything?” her friend Riva asked, raising an eyebrow.

> “Tell you what?”

> “Don’t act clueless. You’re glowing! What happened?”

Sasa blushed. “He called this morning.”

> “Who?”

> “Luke. The guy I met at the wedding.”

> “Luke? Really? Tell me everything!”

> “No, don’t tell anyone, okay?”

> “Why not?”

> “It’s nothing. We just talked. He told me he had to leave for the countryside and there was no network, so he couldn’t contact me.”

Riva tilted her head. “And you believed him?”

> “Why wouldn’t I?” Sasa frowned. “We’re not even dating or anything. And this is why I didn’t want to tell anyone. You always think negative.”

> “Sasa...”

> “What?”

> “Why are you getting so worked up? Chill.”

> “I’m not.”

Her mood dipped. She had been floating all morning, and now doubts started clouding her again.

Then her phone buzzed. A message from Luke:

> “Hey, are you free this evening?”

Her heart skipped. The joy she’d lost moments ago returned but now mixed with nervousness. She wasn’t ready to meet him so soon.

She showed the message to Riva.

> “What should I do?” she asked, forgetting the argument they just had.

> “Just meet him,” Riva shrugged.

> “No, I’m not ready.”

> “Then tell him you’re busy.”

> “But it’s the first time he’s asking. Wouldn’t it be rude to reject it?”

> “If you’re not going to listen, why ask me?”

> “Please, I’m dying here.”

Riva sighed. “Then just go. Don’t overthink it.”

Sasa took a deep breath.

> Yes, she replied.
