Chapter 5- Trouble on The Horizon

As we sat outside, eating leftover cake, a shadow passed over us.

A messenger hawk dropped a sealed letter on my head.

[Main Plot Alert: A mysterious kingdom is looking for “the cursed one with chaotic energy.”]

“…That’s definitely me.”

Luna side-eyed me. “You did scream ‘chicken dinner’ while killing a dungeon boss.”

The scroll unraveled on its own.

“Dear Possible Villain,

You’ve caused enough disturbance in the realm. Come to the Capital. Or we’ll come to you.

P.S. Bring cake.”

I looked at Luna.

“I think the plot is trying to start.”

She sipped her tea. “Can we ignore it?”

Bloop burped, shooting out confetti.

[No. You cannot.]

Part 10: The Capital of Confusion

Three days later, we arrived at the capital city: Velastra. It sparkled with magic, floating buildings, and way too many noble brats.

Even Bloop wore a tiny cape. He called himself “Sir Bloopington” now.

[Quest Update: Meet with the Royal Mage Council and try not to start a war.]

[Optional: Start a war anyway. Reward: Chaos.]

“I swear, if one more noble asks if I’m ‘the dark one,’ I’m throwing Bloop at them,” I muttered.

Luna cracked her knuckles. “Let them ask. I’ve been dying to stab someone with a tiara.”

We entered the Royal Mage Tower. Inside stood five powerful mages, glowing in golden robes. The lead one pointed at me.

“You. You reek of destabilizing power.”

“Wow,” I said. “Thanks. I also showered this morning.”

[Skill Activated: Sarcastic Defense Mechanism.]

They circled me.

“You don’t belong in this world,” one mage hissed.

“You carry a curse from the world beyond,” another whispered.

[SYSTEM WARNING: Your Reincarnation Seal is breaking.]

“…Excuse me?! What do you mean breaking—”

Suddenly, pain shot through me. Symbols lit up on my chest. My vision blurred.

Then—

[Memory Fragment Recovered.]

FLASHBACK

I saw myself in my old world. Sitting at a computer. Lonely. Angry. Wishing I could just disappear.

“I wish I could start over,” I had said. “Somewhere else. Anywhere.”

I saw something hear me.

Something not…human.

It had smiled.

“Wish granted.”

I snapped back to the present.

The mages looked terrified.

“You’re not just a reincarnated soul,” one muttered. “You’re a Voidbound.”

Luna grabbed my arm. “Avan. What the hell is a Voidbound?”

I didn’t answer. I didn’t know.

[NEW TITLE UNLOCKED: ???]

[Status: You Are Now Being Watched.]

The ceiling cracked. Darkness poured in like smoke. The mages screamed.

[The Entity that Granted Your Rebirth is Arriving.]

[Good luck.]

“ARE YOU KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW?!”
