3. BEHAVIOR OF FATHER-IN-LAW

They all reached home and were welcomed by their daughter-in-law - Olivia.

"Ohh my dear, how are you?" Mrs Anderson greeted her as soon as she saw her, showing a genuine smile. She knew Olivia was little shy person, so she took the initiative.

"I am good. What about you mom?' she then asked in return.

She replied yes and then Olivia greeted his father-in-law but she did not get the welcoming vibe from him to which she looked little confused but ignored for a time, thinking that he might be tired.

"Do you want them to stay at the door and talking to them all day here or welcome them inside?" Edward asked his wife and carrying all the stuff with him and he was huffing as the luggage were heavy.

"NO NO, Come inside mom and dad." she was little embarrassed.

They then went inside, and their son showed room to them while she was keeping the food on the dining table.

AT THE DINING TABLE...

Everybody gathered at the dining table and started eating.

"You really made delicious food. I really want to eat more, but my stomach has given the signal." mother-in-law said and praising the dishes that she was eating.

Mrs Anderson noticed that her husband was very quiet after coming here. He was neither talking to Olivia nor showing enthusiasm. He was totally different today.

"Did he really upset with the things that happened before his son's wedding?" she thought.

She also noticed whenever Olivia was trying to help or talking to him, he either ignored her or replied in short. Her husband was really something to which she would deal with him later.

Meanwhile, she was so engrossed in her thoughts that she could not hear Olivia's voice.

"Mom... Mom" Olivia finally shook her little by shoulder and then she came into her senses.

"Ohh!!! What happened?" she asked in a confusion state.

"Mom, Which world are you in? Your daughter-in-law has been calling you, but you were in your own world? Is the food too delicious that you are thinking to open a restaurant with Olivia?" Edward said and started laughing.

"You shut up. What are you saying, Olivia?" She asked.

"Will you go with me at furniture store? First, I thought I would go with Eddy, but now you are with me, will you?" Olivia asked. She just wanted to know her mother-in-law in a better way and this was the right step and also wanted to know her father-in-law.

"My daughter, you don't have to ask me for this. I would love to go with you, and you took the right decision not to go with him." she said while glaring at her son.

"Thank you mom" she said happily.

Edward did not say anything as he has other work to do. On the other hand, he was happy the way Olivia got adjusted with his mom. He was now relieved.

After having lunch, both mother-in-law and daughter-in-law (duo) went straight to furniture store and bought all the important thing that they needed for. The furniture store was nearby by their house like near about 4-5 km. So, they decided not to take cab as per the decision of her mother-in-law. they went there by themselves. There was also park between their way.

It took them around 4 hours to buy all the stuff.

While coming home, she saw her mother-in-law was little panting, so she took her to park and made their way to the bench which was empty.

After looking her stable and relax, Olivia did not want to keep her away from asking that she wanted for long time so, finally she asked.

"Mom, Can I ask you something?" she hesitated first.

"Olivia, You are like my daughter, not actually like but my daughter. I have accepted you my daughter from the day I met you. So, don't ask permission when you want to talk. I feel so low when you do like this. You can ask directly." she explained her clearly. She was once daughter-in-law. She knew how it felt.

"Okay mom. I am so happy to have you around me." she was happy to hear this and little shy to say this.

"Really??" she tried to make her feel comfortable.

"Yes mom. Mom, did something happen to dad? I mean he was not talking to me. Have I done something wrong?" she was curious to know.

Mrs Anderson looked at her Daughter-in-law and spoke.

"I know this would come."

Olivia was puzzled, thinking that her mother-in-law knew that she was going to ask that question.

"He was not upset with you but the way your parents treated him and Edward" she(MIL) said.

She was now again puzzled.

"As far as I know, they treated you all very well. They took care of all things that you might not feel uncomfortable." Now, she was not getting the things why her mother-in-law was saying so.

"Looking at your face, Edward did not tell you anything and he is always like that, bearing all the pain by themselves." She knew the efforts of his son.

Olivia shook her head side to side, giving hints that he did not tell her.

"It was before the wedding when Edward and your dad visited your house." she was now recalling the things that her husband said.

She was so terrified to remember the things that happened that day, and she did not want to tell her as well as it broke the relationship between her and her parents. She did not want that to happen.

"What mom?" she requested to tell her.

"Dear, I also want to know what happened,, but they didn't tell me and told me only that everything went there smoothly. They got little argument but settled it prudently. This is what they said. Your father-in-law might not like the things that's why he was upset." she lied but not good as it should be. She was very bad liar.

"Ohh!!! Maybe yes." she replied, and she didn't like the answer that the way she wanted. She knew mother was lying to her as she was almost at the urge to speak the truth, but suddenly she changed.

She thought that something unexpected happened there that was why her father-in-law behaved ordinary. For a while, she trusted her mother-in-law.

"I will deal your father-in-law that you don't behave like this with my daughter. Hmm?" she smiled to her.

She nodded.

Mrs Anderson thought that it is better to not know everything. It is good from both sides.

Meanwhile....

"Mom, Are you fine? You look so tired. Shall we take a cab if you are not avle to walk." she was concerned.

"No dear, just bring the water for me. I am very thirsty." she(MIL) asked.

She nodded and brought the water. Her mother-in-law drank it, and they left for home As it was getting dark.
