## Chapter 4: The Shattered Reflection
.............................................................................○
The front door slammed open with a violent force that reverberated through the usually serene Jeon household. Jungkook stormed in, his face a thundercloud of fury, his eyes blazing with an anger that made the very air crackle. Before Taehyung could even register his husband’s volatile state, Jungkook’s hand shot out, grabbing Jeonsan by the collar of his shirt, yanking him forward with brutal force.
Taehyung’s breath hitched, his eyes widening in utter shock and disbelief. “Jungkook! Leave him!” he cried out, his voice trembling as he stared at his husband, his face a mask of horrified disbelief.
“Do you know what he has done?” Jungkook roared, his voice raw with pure, unadulterated rage, his grip on Jeonsan’s collar tightening.
“Whatever it is, we can talk it out,” Taehyung pleaded, his eyes welling up with tears. “Please, just… leave him.”
With a guttural snarl, Jungkook released Jeonsan, shoving him back roughly. A handful of crumpled photographs fluttered to the floor. “WHO IN THE HELL IS SHE?” he bellowed, pointing a trembling finger at the images.
Jeonsan, though shaken, found a spark of defiance within him, fueled by a desperate love. “She… she is my girlfriend, Appa. I love her.”
The sound of shattering glass echoed through the tense silence. Taehyung gasped, his gaze snapping to Jungkook, who had just slammed his fist into the large mirror hanging in the hallway. Jagged shards rained down, reflecting the fractured state of their family.
“You think you’ll go around being some kind of lover boy, and I won’t find out?” Jungkook snarled, his knuckles bleeding, his eyes burning with possessive fury.
“What’s wrong with it, Appa?” Jeonsan retorted, his voice trembling but firm. “We both love each other very much, and…”
“SHE IS A MECHANIC’S DAUGHTER!” Jungkook’s voice boomed, cutting off his son’s plea with a venomous disdain.
“Appa, she is incredibly capable,” Jeonsan argued, a note of fierce pride coloring his voice, a pride that went completely unnoticed by his enraged father. “She got admitted to Seoul University entirely on her own merit.”
“I don’t care!” Jungkook’s voice was like a whip crack. “My daughter-in-law will not be a mechanic’s daughter. I have already arranged your marriage with Song uncle’s son. And you *will* marry him, and him only.”
“Appa, I love her very much. Please… please don’t separate us,” Jeonsan choked out, tears streaming down his face, his youthful bravado crumbling under the weight of his father’s unyielding decree.
Taehyung immediately rushed to his son, pulling him into a tight embrace, his own tears now flowing freely. “Don’t cry, San. Everything will be fine. Shhh… shhh, baby,” he murmured, stroking his son’s hair, his heart breaking at the raw pain in his son’s sobs.
He looked up at Jungkook, his eyes brimming with unshed tears, a silent plea for understanding etched on his face.
Jungkook pointedly looked away, his jaw tight, refusing to meet his omega’s pleading gaze.
“It is not a crime to love, Kook,” Taehyung said softly, his voice thick with emotion.
“That girl doesn’t match our high standards,” Jungkook stated firmly, his voice devoid of any empathy.
“Status is nothing, Jungkook!” Taehyung countered, his own anger beginning to simmer beneath the surface of his distress. “I’ve seen that girl. She is so pure and innocent.”
“They only *look* like that,” Jungkook scoffed, his lips curling in disdain. “I’m sure she’s nothing more than an attention seeker, trying to latch onto our family’s wealth.”
“APPA!” Jeonsan shouted, pulling away from Taehyung, his young face contorted with hurt and outrage.
Jungkook’s head snapped towards his son, his eyes blazing with an even fiercer anger. “HOW DARE YOU SHOUT AT ME FOR THAT PATHETIC GIRL!”
He raised his hand, his face contorted with fury, as if to strike Jeonsan. Taehyung instinctively stepped between them, shielding his son with his own body. Jungkook’s hand froze mid-air, his gaze softening infinitesimally as he looked at Taehyung’s protective stance, but the darkness in his eyes quickly returned.
“Don’t defend him, Tae,” Jungkook growled, his voice low and dangerous.
“Sannie, go to your room,” Taehyung said softly but firmly, his eyes still locked on Jungkook. Jeonsan, his face streaked with tears, nodded mutely and retreated, his heartbroken sobs echoing faintly as he disappeared down the hallway. Jungkook’s angry gaze followed his son until he was out of sight.
Taehyung turned back to his husband, his hands reaching out to gently hold Jungkook’s arm. “Kook… he is our baby. Our Jeonsan! Don’t do this to him. That girl… she is nice. He loves her.”
Jungkook’s eyes flashed with suspicion. “So, you knew about all this?” he accused, his voice sharp.
“Kook, he isn’t at fault. Try to understand…” Taehyung pleaded, his voice laced with desperation.
“I don’t *want* to understand,” Jungkook cut him off, his voice cold and unyielding. “All I know is that if he is my son, then he will marry only Mr. Song’s omega son. That is his duty, his responsibility.”
He spoke the words like an unyielding decree, a final judgment. Without another word, he turned and strode out of the room, leaving Taehyung standing amidst the shattered remnants of the mirror, his heart aching with the knowledge that Jungkook was making a terrible mistake, one that could irrevocably break their son’s spirit. And Taehyung, bound by years of habit and the formidable force of his alpha husband’s will, felt utterly powerless to stop him.
