THE FORGOTTEN MEMORIES OF OUR PAST
chapter 3
Jamila ( Jam )
Hey, Zack. Can I come over to your place later? I'm feeling up to a little walk. The hospital walls are starting to feel claustrophobic.
Zack
Sure. I'm at the apartment all day. Just let me know when you're coming.
Jam’s phone screen displays a video call with Zack. She’s holding her phone and walking toward his apartment building. She can hear his voice through the speaker. The camera is focused on the door.
Zack
Just let yourself in. The door’s unlocked. Make yourself comfortable.
Jamila ( Jam )
Okay. I’m coming in now.
Zack
I'm making some tea. Want some?
Jamila ( Jam )
Look what I found ! Remember this?
Jamila ( Jam )
Our pictures
Zack
Whoa. That's...that's from when we were kids. I don't even remember having that album. Where did you find it?
Jamila ( Jam )
We were so young! You had that goofy grin even back then. You look so happy.
Zack
You were always smiling too, even when we got into trouble. I miss that. I miss those carefree days.
Jamila ( Jam )
It feels like we've been friends forever. Like we were meant to be in each other's lives. I wonder if we were this close as kids.
Zack
I don't know. I don't have many memories from that time. Maybe they're buried deep inside. We should try to dig them up.
Jamila ( Jam )
I have a feeling we'll find them again. Maybe we'll find out who we really are.
Jam and Zack walk to a nearby park, a grassy expanse with a small playground and a pond where they used to feed the ducks. They walk hand in hand, their laughter echoing through the park
