Amit couldn’t stop thinking about the word she’d said.

“Good.”

So calm. So deliberate. So unapologetic.

“Bring me the final draft for the collaboration proposal with Amit Mehra’s company,” she said to her assistant.

Was it too fast? Yes.

Later that evening, Amit received the proposal.

It was brilliant — perfectly structured, precise, powerful. Just like her.

“Let’s not waste time, Mr. Mehra. Some things are meant to begin quickly — and burn slowly.”

He leaned back in his chair, reading that line over and over. She wasn’t just crossing the line. She was drawing it, then stepping over with a smile.

And he wasn’t stopping her.

That night, Ruby returned home and opened her private room — the one no one entered. Walls covered in clippings, digital profiles, hidden camera screenshots. It wasn’t just business connections she collected.

She studied people. Obsessively. Secretly.

Amit’s face was now pinned in the very center.

His expressions. His body language. Notes about the way his eyes lingered when he was curious, how his jaw tightened when he was annoyed. The subtle patterns of his confidence.

Her fingers traced the edge of one photo.

“He thinks he’s watching me,” she whispered. “But he has no idea.”

Her obsession was no longer a secret — not in this room. Not in her mind.

And now that he was responding? Now that he was starting to see her, really see her — it was more addictive than she’d imagined.

But what Ruby didn’t know was that Amit had secrets of his own. Darker ones. Quieter ones.
