MY LIFE – Episode 4
Aryansh’s Perspective
It’s Friday.
And for the first time in what feels like ages, I’ve checked the clock more often than my email.
Noon, that’s the time she’s due to arrive.
Yes, Ahroi Rathore.
After days of acting as though it’s merely a follow-up meeting, here I am, ensuring the conference room has the right scent, my shirt looks perfectly neat, and the lighting doesn’t make me appear as if I’ve been sleep-deprived thinking about her.
Absurd? Perhaps.
But that single meeting has resonated with me like an echo.
11:45 AM
“Aryansh, you’re acting strange,” Amit commented as he entered my office holding a cup of coffee.
“I’m not.”
“You’ve adjusted your watch for the fourth time in just ten minutes. It’s not a Rolex commercial, man.”
I shot him a glare but remained silent.
He grinned. “So… business meeting, huh?”
“Yes. Business.”
That sounded even more unbelievable coming from my lips.
“Alright, Mr. Rajvanshi,” he said with an exaggerated bow. “I’ll keep the office clear until 1 PM. You do your thing.”
12:01 PM
The elevator announced its arrival.
I rose instinctively.
And then she stepped inside.
Simply put — elegant and self-assured.
No pretenses. Just her. That same presence from the conference room—though today, it felt even more intense.
“Good afternoon, Mr. Rajvanshi,” she said, offering a courteous smile.
“Please, call me Aryansh,” I replied, motioning to the chair across from me.
She nodded and settled into her seat.
For several seconds, we simply regarded one another. Neither uncomfortable nor overly intense — just a quiet sense of curiosity.
The Discussion
“I’m grateful for the invitation,” she started. “Though I’m still uncertain why I was specifically called.”
I leaned back, considering my words carefully.
“I wanted to talk to someone who’s learning the business from the ground up — someone not yet influenced by corporate politics. Your notes from the last meeting were insightful. You noticed things that even some of the senior managers overlooked.”
She raised an eyebrow, clearly taken aback. “Thank you. I’ve only recently begun getting involved. Honestly, I’m still trying to find my way.”
“I can see that. That’s why it’s so refreshing.”
We conversed. For almost 40 minutes.
About business. Strategies. Expansion.
But in between, there were flashes of laughter, of shared quiet moments, of our eyes meeting and then quickly darting away.
It wasn’t merely a meeting.
It turned into a moment.
As She Departed
I stood by the window, observing her as she walked to her car.
A subtle smile adorned her face.
Amit came in behind me. “So… how did your business meeting go?”
I didn’t reply.
Because all of a sudden, I wasn’t focused on coffee dates, boardrooms, or even business profits.
I was thinking about Ahroi Rathore.
And contemplating how to see her again, without the guise of business.
