The Rain Of Fire
Rain's POV
"Rain!"
"Rain!"
I hear someone calling my name.
"Mom, let me sleep!""And turn on the AC, it's really hot." I say in an irritated voice without opening my eyes and turn my back to the sound calling my name. Come to think of it, it's early autumn, it shouldn't be this hot. And how come Mom is here? I remember, I locked the door. Have I really forgotten to lock the door? Why is not Mom saying anything? Is she gone? I still can feel someone's presence here. I open my eyes and turn around.
There is a silhouette of a man covered with fire all around facing the window of my room. God, there's a man burning in front of my eyes. I have to put off the fire. I don't realise when I sit up, but it causes a creaking sound of the bed. The fire covered man snaps his head back to me and grins. I pause, not being able to move at all. It's not like the man is burning, but as if he's made of fire. All of a sudden he appears an inch apart from me. Flames of the fire is so bright that I squeeze my eyes shut. I am scared. The fire is going to take me in and burn me alive. Is this how I will die. Several seconds pass, but nothing happened. Still scared to open my eyes, I touched my body to check if I'm burning. No, I haven't turned into ashes.
Is he gone? No, I can still feel his presence. Heat emanating from him is warm, and comfortable. I can feel it embracing me inside it. The warm sensations run all over my body, it feels so good. Yes, I am aware that I am at my home, inside my own bedroom. And this man is an intruder. It's not right to to feel safe. But somehow I feel safe.
A knock on the door bring me back to my senses.
I open my eyes and shocked to find myself in sleeping position. Except for the moon light coming through the window, whole room is dark. All those things that just happened were my dreams? I hear the knock again. I hurriedly open the door.
"What on the earth happened Mom? Why are you here this late?" I ask her rubbing the sleep off my eyes.
She completely ignores my question and rush inside the room leaving me at the doorstep. " Are you okay?" she asks. "Yes, but I may have to keep drowsing during my class tomorrow." I smile. But my smile slips when I see her worried face. "What is it, Mom?"
After checking each and every corner, she must have felt relieved, she smiles and says "There was a fire in our neighbourhood tonight." I gasp. "Luckily, there was no one inside the house." She assures me.
"But why are you checking my room?" I ask. "I was really scared because you were not opening the door." she says. Though her reason isn't convincing, I stop myself from asking more questions. "Mom, it's late you should go and sleep. Don't worry, I'm all good."
