Scene 1: David’s Hostel Room – Morning

David is unpacking his box and arranging his mattress. Yusuf and Ikenna help him set up his side of the bunk bed.

Yusuf (lifting a bag):

"Where should I put this, David?"

David:

"Just drop am under the bed, thank you."

Ikenna (laughing):

"Guy, you dey come from village but you come with correct provisions o. Na only you get 4 packs of milk and 3 sardines!"

Tobi (chilling on the top bunk):

"Make una work your asses up! Man no go kill himself with lifting."

Yusuf (to David, jokingly):

"Sorry my brother. Tobi is a dummy, no mind am."

Tobi (sits up instantly):

"Dummy? I got 345 in JAMB. You got 320. Don’t even try me, Yusuf."

Ikenna (shaking head):

"Roasted."

Yusuf (grins):

"See this one. You no even get 106 sef. Na your papa bribe school make you enter. Abeg e."

All of them burst into laughter as David finally finishes unpacking and they settle in.

Scene 2: Orientation Day – Sunday Afternoon

David receives a text:

"📩 Orientation starts by 2 PM at the Main Auditorium. Bring your Admission Letter and ID Card Slip."

He walks in with a crowd of freshers. A large banner reads:

WELCOME TO UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS – FRESHERS ORIENTATION

The session includes:

VC’s Welcome Speech – Talk on university life and discipline.

Dean of Students Affairs – Hostel rules, dress code, and academic honesty.

Medical Faculty Rep – Encourages medical students to stay focused, stay healthy, and avoid cultism.

Security Briefing – No loitering at night, always wear ID card.

Campus Tour – Library, Clinic, Lecture Halls, Cafeteria, Sports Centre.

David listens, takes notes, and receives his Student Handbook.

Scene 3: First Monday Morning – Assembly

📍 Location: Science Auditorium Grounds

🕗 Time: 7:45 AM

All Year 1 Science and Medical students gather.

Dean of Faculty (on mic):

"Good morning freshers. This is your first Monday assembly. It will happen every week. Attendance is compulsory."

School Anthem is sung.

A brief message is shared about discipline and responsibility.

Lecturers are introduced.

The hall is big, cold, filled with about 200 students. Some are shy, some excited. He takes a middle row seat and smiles at the people beside him.

He meets:

Bimpe – smart, cute girl with glasses, from Ogun.

Chuka – calm guy, always chewing gum, studying Medicine.

Amara – loud and social, wants to be a doctor but hates blood.

Lecturer walks in at 10:05 AM.

Dr. Okonkwo (Lecturer):

"Good morning. Welcome to BIO 101 – General Biology. I don’t joke with attendance, and I don’t like noise. Open your notes. We start NOW."

BIO 101 – First Lecture Topics:

Definition of Biology

Branches of Biology

Characteristics of Living Things

Cell as the Basic Unit of Life

Introduction to Microscopy

Sample Note (written by David):

Biology – The study of living organisms.

Branches: Botany, Zoology, Microbiology.

Characteristics of Life: Respiration, Growth, Excretion, Reproduction, Movement, Nutrition.

Cell Theory: All living things are made of cells.

The lecturer gives an impromptu class question:

David raises his hand confidently:

Dr. Okonkwo:

"Good. You’re already thinking like a doctor."

Scene 5: Back in the Hostel – Evening

David walks back feeling proud. He enters his room.

Yusuf:

"How was lecture, Doctor David?"

David:

"Good. I even answered question today!"

Tobi:

"Mad o! Me I went to MTH 101 today. Na pure cruise. That lecturer go frustrate person life sha."

They all laugh and talk about their different departments.

Closing Scene:

David kneels to pray before sleeping.

David:

"Lord, thank you for today. This new life no go easy, but I know say You go guide me."
