Ashes of Our Bond

Ashes of Our Bond

Chapter 1 – The Pit Below the Palace

The shadows beneath the palace held secrets darker than the stone walls that surrounded them. The air was thick with the stench of sweat and blood, a stifling reminder of the horrors that occurred within these walls. Yet, for those who came here seeking pleasure or power, it was all part of the game. A twisted, dark symphony played in the underbelly of the kingdom, and those who fell to the beat were rarely seen again.

Taehyung, a highborn alpha with a reputation as fierce as the fire in his eyes, walked through the dimly lit corridors of the palace, his presence commanding attention. He was used to the adoration of the court, the whispers of power that followed him like a shadow. But tonight, his mind was elsewhere, fixated on the one thing that had eluded him for years—an omega unlike any other.

Jungkook. The omega who had become an enigma. The one whose defiance sparked something deep within him. Taehyung had heard rumors—whispers in the corridors and secretive glances exchanged among the guards—that this omega was different. Strong, rebellious, and fiercely independent. He was rumored to be a fighter, one who had never bowed to the will of the nobles who had bought and sold omegas like cattle.

And yet, Taehyung had seen him fight in the underground pits. He had seen the fire in Jungkook’s eyes when he was backed into a corner, when his life hung by a thread. There was something mesmerizing about him. It wasn’t just the way his body moved, fluid and lethal, or the way he handled pain with a grace that defied the weakness expected of omegas. It was the spark in his eyes—the resistance that burned brighter than anything Taehyung had ever known.

Tonight, Taehyung wasn’t just watching. He had come for Jungkook, to claim him. To possess him, to make him kneel, to break him if necessary. The thrill of the chase was what had always excited Taehyung, but this time, it felt different. This wasn’t a game. This was something far more dangerous—because for the first time, Taehyung wasn’t sure who would be broken in the end.

The pit was a place where omegas were forced to fight, to survive. It was a twisted form of entertainment for the rich and powerful, where those with money and influence could gamble on bloodshed, betting on the survival of the weakest and strongest alike. The omega fighters had no choice but to fight for their lives, their dignity stripped away like the blood that stained the floor.

Taehyung’s boots echoed through the stone halls as he descended into the pit. He could hear the roars of the crowd above him, the cacophony of cheers and jeers, the constant hum of violence that defined this world. He approached the bars that separated him from the fighting arena, his eyes scanning the fighters below.

Then he saw him.

Jungkook stood in the center of the pit, his body covered in bruises and cuts, his clothes torn, but there was no defeat in the way he stood. He was panting, sweat and blood dripping down his face, but his eyes—those eyes—still burned with defiance. There was no fear in him, no submission. Just a raw, untamed fury that sent a shock through Taehyung’s chest. The crowd’s noise faded into a dull roar as Taehyung’s attention fixed entirely on the omega.

Jungkook’s lip curled into a smirk as he caught Taehyung’s gaze, his body still coiled like a predator ready to strike. He recognized Taehyung, of course. The noble alpha who held the world in his palm, the one who had destroyed countless lives with a flick of his hand. The one who had never once been refused.

But this omega was different. He had been bred to obey, to serve, but he would not be broken by someone like Taehyung. Not easily. If at all.

“Do you enjoy the sight of blood, Alpha?” Jungkook’s voice was rough, mocking, yet beneath it, there was a deeper, more dangerous edge. “Does it excite you to watch an omega suffer for your amusement?”

Taehyung’s lips curved into a smile, though it was sharp, almost cruel. “I enjoy many things, omega,” he said, stepping closer to the bars. His gaze never left Jungkook. “But you... You interest me the most.”

Jungkook's eyes narrowed, his muscles tensing. He was exhausted, but his pride wouldn’t allow him to show weakness. He would never let this alpha think he could break him.

The guard overseeing the pit motioned for the next round to begin, but Taehyung held up a hand, his gaze never wavering from Jungkook. The pit fell silent, as the crowd sensed something was happening.

“What if I offered you something more?” Taehyung’s voice was low, almost a whisper, but it carried across the pit. “What if I offered you your freedom?”

Jungkook blinked, surprised by the offer. His expression softened, just for a moment, before he gave Taehyung a cold look. “And what do you expect in return?” His voice was laced with suspicion.

“Everything,” Taehyung replied simply, his eyes dark with intent. “Your body. Your soul. You belong to me now, omega.”

The words hit Jungkook like a slap, and for a moment, he considered running, escaping. But his body was spent, the fight had drained him, and he knew he had no choice but to play this game. His pride would be his only weapon now.

“I belong to no one,” Jungkook spat, his voice steady despite the exhaustion.

Taehyung’s smile only widened. “We’ll see about that.”
