Desk Games

Episode 5: "Desk Games"

The atmosphere inside Wolfe Enterprises was sleek, sterile—glass, chrome, silence. But Kira’s heart wasn’t quiet.

Today, she officially began as Kade Wolfe’s personal assistant.

She stood before the elevator, clutching her tablet like a shield, her lips tinted dark and glossy. Her black pencil skirt hugged her hips tightly. Boots clicking. Hair tied loosely, like a subtle rebellion.

She had kissed those lips. Raked her nails down that back. Twice.

And he didn’t even know.

The doors slid open.

Kade: "You're late."

His voice cut the air like a blade.

Kira stepped inside his office, back straight.

Kira: "Two minutes. I brought your coffee. No sugar. Just how you like it."

Kade looked up from his desk. Grey eyes raked over her. For a moment—just a breath—he stared too long.

That skirt.

That mouth.

Something stirred in his chest. Familiar. Dangerous.

He cleared his throat.

Kade: "Sit. Let’s go over the contracts."

For hours, she sat across from him, typing, highlighting. But tension wrapped around them like static. Every time their fingers brushed, every glance held a little longer than it should.

She knew. She remembered his mouth. His heat. The low groan in his throat when she kissed his neck.

But he didn’t.

Or maybe… he was pretending too.

Kade: "Come here."

His tone shifted. It wasn’t a request.

Kira stood, walked slowly around his desk. She placed the tablet down.

Kira: "Yes, sir?"

That word again. It always did something to him.

He looked up, and suddenly, the air was thick. His hand reached—took her wrist gently.

Then, with one swift pull, he turned her, and her hips slammed into the desk.

Kade: "What are you hiding, Miss Black?"

She blinked up at him, lips parting.

Kira: "I—I don’t know what you mean."

His body pressed into hers, not touching, but close. Too close. The heat of him burned through her blouse.

Kade: "You looked different this morning. Tired. Flushed. Like you’d barely slept."

She swallowed.

Kira: "Must be the workload."

His hand braced beside her on the desk.

Kade: "Or something else. Like… maybe a man."

She bit her lip. Her eyes lifted to meet his.

Kira: "And what if it was?"

Kade: "Then he was a fool. To leave you like that."

You did, she almost said. Twice.

But instead, she smiled.

Kira: "It’s not your concern, sir."

Kade’s restraint snapped.

He leaned in, one hand on her lower back, the other cupping her jaw. Their lips crashed—urgent, teeth grazing. Her gasp melted into a moan. His hand slid down her thigh, fingertips trailing the hem of her skirt.

Kira: "Kade... we can’t..."

Kade: "Tell me to stop."

She didn’t. Couldn’t. Her back arched. His mouth found her neck, kissing down. Her hands tangled in his shirt.

It was reckless. Wild. His desk dug into her hips, and she welcomed the pain.

For that moment—boss and assistant didn’t exist.

Just heat. Need. Memory.

And secrets neither of them dared say.

A knock shattered the tension.

Kade (growling): "What?"

Receptionist (muffled): "Sir, your noon meeting’s here."

He stepped back slowly, jaw tight. Kira’s chest rose and fell fast.

Kade: "We’re not done."

Kira: "Yes, sir."

As she left the office, Kira touched her lips and smiled to herself.

He still doesn’t know.

But soon…

he would.
