COURSED DEVOTION ( Taekook)
Flashback 2
That night, he crawled into my bed instead of his. We didn’t say anything. We just lay there—his head on my shoulder, my fingers lightly tracing the scar on his forearm he got from our first abandoned house shoot.
He fell asleep quickly.
I didn’t.
Because I kept thinking about that voice in the church…
How it knew his name.
And how it wasn’t done yet.

The voice said my name.
Just once.
Soft. Like a lullaby in a language I almost remembered.
I paused the footage again.

There. Behind the sound of rustling leaves, behind my voice, Taehyung’s footstep—someone else was in the shrine.
But when I rewound the tape—nothing. No voice. Like it wanted to be heard only once.
I didn’t tell Taehyung.
Not yet.

Three days after that email, we left the city.
Jungkook had marked the shrine’s location on an old paper map because there was no GPS signal in that part of the mountains. No blogs. No tourism pages. Just the email and a handful of blurred photos that looked like they were taken through a dirty lens.

Something about it felt… wrong.
But something about Jungkook looked right.

He hadn’t smiled like that in weeks. Not since our last upload flopped and our subscriber growth slowed. He needed this trip to feel like something mattered again.

And I…
I needed to be wherever he was, even if it killed me.
We packed our usual: two cameras, four mics, food for three days, and a thick black journal Jungkook used to scribble location notes and timestamps. I noticed he wrote something on the inside cover.
“If found, return to: Jeon Jungkook.”
“If I’m not alive, tell Taehyung I knew.”
I didn’t ask what he meant.
I couldn’t
