Chapter 4: Blood, Dust, and Secrets

[The East Wing – Morning After the Spirit Encounter]

Lady Mirelle (whispering): My Lady… you shouldn’t be here. The servants say the spirit of Elira roams at dawn…

Seraphina (quietly): I’ve already met her.

And I don’t think she’s finished with me.

lady Mirelle: But why you? Why is she drawn to you?

seraphina (to herself): Because I’ve walked the line between life and death too.

And ghosts know ghosts.

(Seraphina begins rummaging through an old armoire in a dusty chamber]

Seraphina: There’s something hidden here.

Something Kaelrith isn’t telling me.

Lady Mirelle: You're risking your life… for what? To understand your husband?

Seraphina: To save him. And maybe… to save myself.

[A false panel clicks open—inside, an ancient tome with faded runes glows softly]

Seraphina (in awe): This is… spellwork. Old. Forbidden.

...... Necromancy?

Lady Mirelle (shocked): You must burn it! This is death magic!

Seraphina: No. This is the truth. Kaelrith is trying to protect something. Or someone.

[Later – Kaelrith’s Study, Storm brewing outside]

Seraphina (placing the tome on his desk): This was hidden in the east wing. Care to explain?

Kaelrith (eyes darkening): You went through her room.

Seraphina: You mean Elira?

Kaelrith (tense): That book doesn’t belong in your hands.

Seraphina: Then tell me what it is. Or I’ll read it out loud.

Kaelrith (growling): Don’t be foolish.

Seraphina (softly): Then *don’t lie to me*.

[Beat of silence. Kaelrith’s jaw clenches. Thunder cracks outside.]

Kaelrith: That book belonged to my mother. A seer. A powerful one.

Seraphina: She was a necromancer?

Kaelrith: She was cursed—by the crown. They feared what she saw. What she knew. They called her evil because they couldn’t control her.

Seraphina:So they hunted her. Just like they now paint *you* as a villain.

Kaelrith: History repeats itself. And those who remember it are marked for death.

seraphina: Then we break the cycle. We use the truth to fight back.

Kaelrith (bitter smile): You speak of truth like it’s light. But truth is a blade, Seraphina. It cuts both ways.

[Lightning flashes—Seraphina places a hand gently on his arm.]

Seraphina: Then we hold it together.

(Kaelrith flinches slightly, not used to touch, but doesn’t pull away.]

Kaelrith: You don’t fear me… or what I come from. Why?

seraphina: Because I know you. Maybe not the way I should yet… but my soul does.

Kaelrith (eyes narrowing): You say that like you’ve lived two lives.

Seraphina (quietly): Maybe I have.

[Kaelrith looks at her, searching her expression. Something unspoken lingers.]

Kaelrith:If you truly wish to understand what I am… Then come with me tonight. There’s a place I haven’t visited in years. Because the dead there still speak my name.

Seraphina: Where?

Kaelrith: The Catacombs beneath Blackthorn.

---

(Midnight – Entrance to the Catacombs]

Kaelrith (holding a torch): No light reaches this far down. And no prayers echo here.

Seraphina: Then why bring me?

Kaelrith: Because the truth you crave is buried here… along with everything I tried to forget.

[As they descend, eerie whispers start to rise. The walls are lined with bones and carvings of ancient symbols.]

Unknown Voice (whispered): Kaelrith… Kaelrith… breaker of fate…

Seraphina (gripping his arm):They know you.

Kaelrith: They remember everything.

[They stop before a sealed door, covered in blood-red symbols. Kaelrith kneels, placing a hand on the floor.]

Kaelrith: This was her prison.

My mother’s.

Seraphina (shocked):They *locked her here*?

Kaelrith; She was too powerful. Too dangerous. But she left this behind—for me. Or maybe… for you.

(The symbols begin to glow as Seraphina steps forward. Her presence awakens something.]

Unknown Voice (echoing through chamber): Daughter of flame… bride of shadow…

Seraphina (heart pounding); What is this? Why is it reacting to me?

Kaelrith (stepping closer): Because you’re more than you were told. More than you remerememb

Seraphina (whispers): I died once.

And when I came back, I thought it was for revenge. But maybe it was for you

Kaelrith (his voice barely audible): Then maybe… you were always meant to be mine.

[Suddenly, the sealed door cracks open. A rush of cold wind blasts through. Inside—an altar, glowing softly. A pendant floats in the air.]

Seraphina (entranced): It’s calling to me…

Kaelrith:Then take it. But know this—once you touch it, your fate is sealed.

There’s no turning back.

Seraphina: I already chose this path.

I chose you.

[She steps forward, fingers brushing the pendant. A surge of energy pulses through the room.]

Unknown Voice (calmer now): The bond is awakened. The fates have turned.

Kaelrith (in awe): You weren’t just reborn.

You were sent back. By something far greater than either of us.

seraphina (clutching the pendant): Then let’s finish what we were meant to start.

Together.

(Their hands brush—Kaelrith doesn’t pull away this time.]

Kaelrith:Then from this moment forward…

No more lies between us.

Seraphina: no more masks. No more fear.

Kaelrith (quietly): Then we fight fate. As one.
