ep 3

Isha hesitated for a moment, the weight of the truth pressing down on her. “Um, we were... out together, and he got hurt in a... accident. I found him and brought him here.”

The nurse nodded, jotting down notes. “Thank you. We’ll do our best to take care of him. You can wait here while we assess his condition.”

As the nurse walked away, Isha felt a pang of guilt wash over her. She was lying, albeit to protect him. But she knew that if she revealed the truth, it could lead to more danger for both of them.

Sitting back down, she allowed herself a moment to breathe. Images of the man flooded her mind again—the way he had pulled her into the alley, the desperation in his eyes, the warmth of his lips against hers. She shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts. This was not the time for distractions.

Isha took a deep breath, her mind racing with thoughts of her mission and the unexpected turn of events. She knew that the longer she stayed at the hospital, the more entangled she would become in the injured man's life. As much as she felt a connection to him, she couldn't afford to lose sight of her true purpose on Earth. Isha's mission is to protect the Heartstone, a powerful gem hidden on Earth, from dark demons disguised as humans who seek to harness its magic for their malevolent purposes.

Determined to stay focused, Isha pulled out a small notepad from her bag and began to write a note. She wanted to leave something for the man, a way to explain her departure while also conveying her concern for him.

Dear Friend,

I hope you recover quickly. I had to leave to ensure your safety and mine. The world can be dangerous, and I cannot risk being found out. Please know that I will be thinking of you and wishing you well.

Take care,

Isha

Once she finished writing, she folded the note carefully and tucked it into a small envelope she found in her bag. She needed to find a place to leave it where he would see it once he regained consciousness.

As she glanced around the waiting area, her eyes landed on a small table next to the reception desk. It was a perfect spot where the staff would likely place personal items for patients. With a sense of urgency, she stood up and walked over, her heart racing.

Just as she was about to place the note on the table, she heard a commotion coming from the entrance of the hospital. Her instincts kicked in, and she quickly ducked behind a nearby potted plant, her heart pounding in her chest.

As the morning sun streamed through the hospital windows, Arav slowly opened his eyes. His body ached, and the dull throb of his injuries reminded him of the previous night's chaos. Glancing around the sterile hospital room, his sharp instincts kicked in. He was alive—but he was alone.

He sat up with some effort, his hand brushing against the bandages on his torso. His mind immediately went to the woman who had saved him. Who was she? Her presence was unlike anyone he had ever encountered, almost ethereal. But now, she was gone.
