Episode # 7
The sun begins to set, casting a soft orange glow over the street.
Pihu, still holding her cheek where she was slapped, walks slowly towards the house.
Her steps are heavy, her mind filled with frustration. Just as she reaches the doorstep, Anjali, who has been watching her from a distance, steps forward.
Anjali Kumari (FL's cousin)
*softly*
Hey, Pihu, wait.
Pihu stops, her shoulders tense. She's still reeling from the slap.
Pihu Kumari ( FL)
*frustrated*
I don't understand, Anjali. I just saved that guy, and she...she treated me like I'm the one who hurt him! How could she do that?
Anjali Kumari (FL's cousin)
*calmly*
Pihu, remember... never, never bring this up. It's our secret. You don't know that woman. You never met that boy. Do you understand?
Pihu pauses, her eyes filled with confusion and anger. She looks at Anjali, unsure whether to trust her words.
Pihu Kumari ( FL)
*reluctantly*
Okay...fine. I won't talk about it. But it's just...so unfair.
Anjali Kumari (FL's cousin)
*gently*
I know. But this is the way it has to be. For both our sake.
Anjali's places a hand on Pihu's shoulder, guiding her towards the door.
As they enter the house, Anjali's eyes flicked to the far end of the room where her mother seated on the couch, watches them intently.
Her mother stands up, sharply, her eyes narrowing as she watches Pihu. Before they can even take another step, she quickly moves towards them and grabs Anjali's arm, pulling her to the side, away from Pihu.
Anika Kumari (FL's aunt/ Anjali's mom)
*whispering harshly*
What are you doing? You're supposed to be back alone. This is not how it's supposed to go.
Anjali Kumari (FL's cousin)
*she pulls her arm back*
Mom, can I get some rest first? Please. I need a moment.
Anika Kumari (FL's aunt/ Anjali's mom)
*stares at Anjali for a long moment, her lips pressed tightly together, but she says nothing*
Anika Kumari (FL's aunt/ Anjali's mom)
*then, her gaze flickers to Pihu, who is standing a few steps behind them.*
Anjali's mother finally lets go of her arm and steps back, her expression unreadable.
Anjali walks past her mother and heads into the house.
The tension in the air is thick as Anjali's mother watches her moves inside, her eyes cold and calculating.
Her silent watchfulness, a quiet disapproval.
Ravi, shirtless and still recovering from his wound, sits on a chair, adjusting the bandage wrapped around his side.
His muscles are defined, but the stab wound is a reminder of the danger he faced. As he reaches for his shirt to put it on, the door creaks open.
His grandma walks in with a servant holding a tray of food. She looks at him with mixture of concern and authority.
Ananya Rao
(ML's grandma)
*firmly*
Ravi, where do you think you're going? You need to rest and eat.
Ravi De Luca (ML)
*putting on his shirt, a determined look on his face*
I have someone to find, Grandma. I need to thank her for what she did for me today.
Before she can respond, Neil enters the room. He stops at the door, sensing the tension in the air.
Ananya Rao
(ML's grandma)
*raising an eyebrow*
Who? The girl I saw at the hospital?
Ravi, surprised, turns to her.
Ravi De Luca (ML)
*smiling*
Oh, you met her? She's sweet, isn't she?
The room falls silent. His grandma's eye narrow, her face hardens, and Neil looks uncomfortable, shifting his gaze. He knows what happened at the hospital and is uneasy about the situation.
Ravi De Luca (ML)
*noticing the change in her expression*
Grandma? What's wrong?
Ananya Rao
(ML's grandma)
*sternly*
Ravi...this is the last time you talk about that girl you met in the streets. The boys and men of who have Rao's blood don't meet women on the streets. That's not for us.
Ravi looks taken aback, his face a mix of confusion and frustration.
Ravi De Luca (ML)
*lightly, try to reason*
Grandma, please. She's not what you think. She's sweet and...
Ananya Rao
(ML's grandma)
*Cutting him off, furious*
No! No women from the streets, Ravi, final! You wanted to learn about your mother's place? There are rules here too under this household. And this is one rule you must follow. No women from the streets. Don't ever think or talk about that girl again.
Ravi De Luca (ML)
*stands frozen, shock evident on his face*
Ananya Rao
(ML's grandma)
*glares at him for a moment before turning to Neil*
You keep an eye on him.
Neil Bhatt ( ML's bestie/right hand man)
*not meeting Ravi's eyes, nods awkwardly*
As the tension builds, another servant enters the room, carrying a message.
The Rao's servant ²
*respectfully*
Madam, you have a call on the landline.
Ananya Rao
(ML's grandma)
*with a tense sigh*
Excuse me.
She turns and walks out of the room, still visibly furious.
As she picks up the phone, her tone shifts instantly.
Ananya Rao
(ML's grandma)
📱*answering*
*in a sweet, calculated voice*
Hello, Mrs Sona Kumari. How are you?
Ravi standing there, his mind racing. Neil slowly approaches him,his voice low.
Neil Bhatt ( ML's bestie/right hand man)
*quietly*
Are you okay, man?
Ravi De Luca (ML)
*shaking his head*
I don't know, Neil. I don't understand. She doesn't even know her. She was kind to me.
Neil Bhatt ( ML's bestie/right hand man)
*hestiant*
Maybe... sometimes it's not what's right or wrong. But what they believe.
Ravi De Luca (ML)
*sighing*
Yeah. But that's not fair.
*he looked at Neil seriously and confused*
Did something happen when I was in that hospital room? Between Pihu and Grandma.
Neil Bhatt ( ML's bestie/right hand man)
* struggles to find the right words about the situation*
