What does he want? He's getting on my nerves now. He took Sam's life.. There's no way I would let him get away with it— Suddenly he lifted his hand and seized me by the throat.
What.. His grip tightened around my throat. I groaned in pain, trying to push his hand away from me, “Let go of me.. you can't kill me.” I whispered, but he didn't budge. I need to fight him.. Or else it will be my last day. Just as he was about to tighten his grip, I raised my hand and struck him across the face. To my surprise, he didn’t even flinch. He didn’t stumble... didn’t react at all.
Instead, he simply pulled out another knife. Wait, how many knives does he have on him? With a sudden move he plunged the knife into my stomach. He proved me wrong. He can kill me.
My legs gave out beneath me, sending me crashing to the ground. Warm blood seeped from the wound, spreading fast. “Answers.. I-I need a-answers.. W-why did you kill Sam? W-what did h-he do to y-you?” I managed to scream, clutching the spot where he had just stabbed me. He didn't respond. Everything around me started to blur. Through my fading vision, I saw him removing his mask and gloves. His face... I wanted to see him... but darkness was closing in. “Please! Answer my question!” I screamed— then darkness.
My eyes snapped open, my breath ragged as I frantically scanned my surroundings. What the… I was home. The familiar walls, the soft sheets beneath me—it didn’t make sense. How? My hands trembled as I clutched my stomach, expecting to feel the wound. But there was nothing. No blood. No pain. Was it all... just a dream? How is that even possible? “It felt so real to me, as if I had actually lived through it.” I muttered, pushing the bedsheet aside. “What do you mean? What are you talking about?” A voice came from somewhere.
I quickly looked around, searching for the source. Was someone here? But there was no one in sight.
That voice... why did it sound so familiar?
“Who’s here?” I asked, my voice shaking. As I was about to put my foot down, a hand suddenly grabbed it.
I screamed, instinctively kicking out to free myself.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING, BITCH?!” someone yelled, their voice sharp and filled with fury.
I slowly peeked down to the floor and froze. There, lying motionless, was my sister.
Her eyes were closed, and she was clutching a teddy bear to her chest.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING THERE?! YOU SCARED THE SHIT OUT OF ME!” I shouted, my heart racing.
“GET UP RIGHT NOW!” I yelled, panic rising in my chest.
“I SCARED YOU? LIKE HELL... YOU SCARED ME!” my sister yelled at me, standing up. “I was in my room, getting ready to sleep, and then you were screaming like someone was trying to kill you!”
With that, she threw the teddy bear right at my face, glared at me, with her hands on her hip.
“WHEN I CAME RUNNING INTO YOUR ROOM, GUESS WHAT... YOU WERE ASLEEP. SLEEPING SO PEACEFULLY, AFTER RUINING MY BEAUTY SLEEP!” she snapped, her frustration clear. “But hey, why were you screaming? Was it something bad?” she asked, sitting on the bed.
“Um... yeah. It was a dream, I guess? But it felt so real... trust me.”
She raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms. “A dream? Seriously? You were screaming like you were being murdered.”
I sighed, running a hand through my hair. “I—I don’t know how to explain it. One second, I was there, and the next, I woke up here.”
She studied me for a moment before rolling her eyes. “Well, whatever it was, it better not happen again. I swear, if you ruin my sleep one more time i swear...” she yawned, stretching, “i’m moving out.”
I let out a small chuckle, but deep down, unease still gripped me. Was it really just a dream? It had felt too vivid, too real. I could still feel the phantom pain where the knife had stabbed me, the pressure of fingers tightening around my throat.
I glanced down at my stomach, hesitating. Slowly, I lifted my shirt.
My blood ran cold.
There, right where I had been stabbed in the dream, was a faint but undeniable scar. “Get up now. You need to go to school, or did you forget about that?” She got up from the bed and stretched, letting out a tired sigh. “And remember to call mom while heading out. She asked me to remind you.” she muttered, rubbing her eyes. “Okay, now go to sleep, I'll get freshed up.” I said getting up from the bed. “You lazy ass! Clean up your bed first!” My sister yells slapping my head. “Next time.. don't make me remind you.” She warns before walking away, slamming the door shut. “Ouch..” I hiss in pain, stepping into the bathroom while rubbing the spot she hit.
