Chapter 8

Kai stepped forward, his eyes flashing with anger.

Kai: Jasmine; you're not going to use Mia as a pawn in your games. Not while I'm around.

Jasmine's smile flattered for a moment, but then she regained her composure.

Jasmine:Oh, Kaii. You're so predictable. But don't worry, I'll make sure that Mia is well taken care of.

As Jasmine spoke, Mia felt a chill run down her spine. She knew that she was in grave danger, and that she had to get away from Jasmine and her sinister plans.

Mia new she had to act fast. She couldn't let Jasmine and her cohorts get their hands on her. She took a deep breath and made a run for it, dashing past Jasmine and Kai and out of the room.

Alex shouted after her, but Mia didn't dare to look back. She kept running, her heart pounding in her chest, until she reached the front door of the mansion.

She flung it open and sprinted out into the night, not stopping, until she was sure she had left the mansion and its occupants far behind.

She slowed to a stop, gasping for breath, Mia realized that she had no idea where she was or where she was going. She was alone, scared and lost in the dark.

Suddenly, she had footsteps behind her. She spun around, ready to defend herself, but it was Alex who emerged from the shadows.

Alex: Mia, what were you thinking ? You can't just run off in the night like that.

Mia's eyes flashed with anger.

Mia: I had to get away from her. From Jasmine.

Alex's expression softened.

Alex I know. I'm sorry. I should have protected you better.

Alex took her hand and looked into her eyes his eyes locked in hers.

Alex :I'll tell you everything Mia. But first we need to get you somewhere safe.

As they walked, Mia realized that she had no idea what lay ahead. But with Alex by her side, she felt a sense of hope that she hadn't felt in hours.

Alex led Mia to a small, unamusing cottage the outskirts of town. the cottage was surrounded by lush garden, filled with vibrant flowers and towering trees. Mia's eyes widened as they approach the cottage.

Mia:This is beautiful.Who lives here?

Alex smiled

Alex:A friend of mine.Someone who can help me keep you safe.

As they entered the cottage,Mia saw a figure sitting by the fireplace.It was an old woman, with long silver hair and piercing red eyes.

Old woman:Ah, Alex, I see you've brought the young one.

Alex nodded.

Alex:Yes,Elara.This is Mia,my girlfriend.

Elara's eyes locked on Mia, and for a moment, Mia felt like she was being seen right through to her soul.

Elara: Welcome, child.You are safe here.

As Elara spoke,Mia felt a sense of peace.......
