She stepped into the cafeteria later that day, still half-convinced the morning had been a fever dream. She glanced around, looking for her new friends, when her eyes accidentally found him again.
Lucien. Sitting alone. White shirt now gone—switched for a black sweater that clung just right. Calm. Reading a book. And he was using her handkerchief as a bookmark.

She glanced once more at Lucien’s table just as a few other students walked over and sat beside him. Two guys. All laughing like they’d been friends forever.
