Series Title: The Last
Episode 4: “The Blade and the Marine”
The sun rose over a quiet, uncharted island.
Roger and Tao pulled their boat ashore, eyes scanning the thick forest and wide plains beyond.
Roger:
"Looks empty."
Tao:
"Perfect for training."
⚔️ The Island of Steel
They agreed. This would be their first training ground.
No distractions. No people. Just nature—and their resolve.
They built a small shelter from palm trees and bamboo. Caught fish. Made a fire. Then it began.
💥 Roger & Tao's Training
Roger:
Started every morning with 5,000 pushups.
Then sprinted up the cliffs with a boulder tied to his back.
Practiced Armament Haki by punching a steel plate tree over and over till his knuckles bled.
Swung his sword in wide arcs, slashing through giant logs — 10,000 times a day.
Tao:
Balanced on tall, thin bamboo poles while meditating with a sword on his back.
Practiced blindfolded strikes, cutting falling leaves perfectly mid-air.
Trained one arm at a time by fighting wild boars with only one sword.
Focused on breathing control and energy flow.
🥷 The Sparring Match
At dusk, they stood face to face in an open clearing.
The air was still. The wind held its breath.
Roger (grinning):
“Let’s test how far we’ve come.”
Tao (smiling back):
“Try not to die.”
They clashed.
Roger’s blade roared with Armament Haki.
Tao moved like wind—fluid, sharp, unreadable.
After a hundred exchanges, Tao leaped back, closed his eyes, and whispered:
Tao:
“Let me show you something.”
He slid his blade into a reverse grip. His aura changed.
Dark energy flowed around him like a shadow storm.
Tao:
“Secret technique… Black Bloom Style: Dark Aura Slash.”
In one breath, he vanished.
Roger didn’t even see the strike.
Suddenly—WHIP!
A gust of wind burst through the trees.
A massive oak behind Roger was cleanly sliced in half.
A faint sting on Roger’s chest — a deep, clean slash opened up across his shirt.
Blood dripped slowly.
Roger (blinking):
“…I didn’t even see the sword move.”
Tao sheathed his blade.
Tao:
“That’s the point.”
🍖 The Strange Man at Dinner
After bandaging up, they laughed and feasted on grilled fish and fruits under the stars.
But then they heard a scream—from the shore.
They ran back fast.
They found a bloody scene.
A fisherman lay dead by the riverbank. And above him stood a man… blood all over his torn white shirt, holding a jagged saber.
He had messy brown hair, sharp blue eyes, and a Marine emblem half-burnt on his shoulder pad.
Roger (serious):
“Oi… you look strong. Join my crew.”
Man (turns slowly):
“...Huh? Did you say pirate?”
Roger (nods):
“Captain of the Roger Pirates.”
Man:
“Tch. Too bad. I’m a Marine.”
Suddenly, he attacked—no warning.
🧠 Who is Darius?
His name was Darius.
A rogue Marine—low-ranking but ambitious.
Despite being weak, he had Conqueror’s Haki and a bit of Armament Haki, which gave him a dangerous edge.
Roger clashed with him, sword vs saber.
It was a rough fight—Roger underestimated him.
Darius moved unpredictably, slashing wild and shouting about “justice” and “cleansing the seas.”
Roger dodged most, but Darius grazed his shoulder with a haki-boosted jab.
Tao joined, pulling his sword.
Tao:
“He’s not worth killing.”
Roger:
“But he’s in our way.”
Tao slashed with Dark Aura, slicing a boulder near Darius in half.
The wind from it alone sent Darius crashing backward.
He coughed, wiped his lip, and backed away.
Darius:
“I’ll remember this. The World Government will hear your names.”
He limped off into the forest.
🏴☠️ Aftermath
Tao:
“He’ll be trouble.”
Roger (grinning):
“Good. That means we’re doing something right.”
