The night air was heavy, thick with the weight of Jae-min’s revelation. Naabi sat frozen, her mind reeling from everything he had just confessed. A prophecy, a forgotten past, a power that had been forcefully suppressed—what did all of this mean for their future?
She could still feel the warmth of Jae-min’s breath against her skin, the ghost of his touch lingering between them.
"The curse wasn’t just locking away my memories," he had said. "It was suppressing my power."
Now that it was gone, his true abilities would begin to surface. But what exactly was his power?
A Night of Restlessness
Naabi stayed by his side, unwilling to leave him alone after everything he had shared. The others were still out, searching for supplies and shelter. Only Greenforest had returned, standing near the doorway with his usual calm presence, watching over them both.
Jae-min had eventually drifted off into a restless sleep, his body exhausted from the emotional weight of his memories. But Naabi could not sleep.
She turned to Greenforest, her voice barely above a whisper. “What do you think it means? His power?”
Greenforest’s eyes darkened. “If it was sealed away for so long, it must be something dangerous.”
Naabi bit her lip. Dangerous… or powerful enough to threaten those who wanted to control it?
She knew one thing for sure—Jae-min was no ordinary man.
A Sudden Disturbance
A sharp, electric crackle filled the air.
Naabi’s breath hitched as the room around them shuddered—as if the very earth trembled beneath them.
Jae-min’s body jerked violently. A soft, glowing mist began to swirl around him, pulsing with energy.
Naabi’s pulse quickened. “Jae-min?”
He didn’t respond. His face contorted in pain, sweat beading at his temple.
Greenforest stepped closer, his muscles tensed. “Something is happening.”
Then—a surge of light exploded from Jae-min’s body.
Naabi gasped, shielding her eyes as golden threads of energy danced through the air, crackling like lightning.
Greenforest reacted immediately, pulling Naabi back as the energy intensified. The wooden walls of the cabin splintered, the air thick with raw power.
And then—
Jae-min’s eyes snapped open.
A New Power Awakens
His irises were no longer the deep brown Naabi had come to know. Instead, they burned with a molten gold glow, shimmering like liquid fire.
Naabi’s breath caught. “Jae-min…?”
He didn’t seem to hear her. His body was rigid, the glow spreading from his eyes to his fingertips. Sparks flickered around his hands, the air vibrating with an unseen force.
Then—the ground cracked beneath him.
Naabi stumbled backward as the wooden planks split open, roots and vines bursting through the floor. The cabin trembled, groaning under the force of whatever power had just been released.
Greenforest’s hand shot out, steadying Naabi as the chaos unfolded.
Jae-min rose to his feet, his body moving as if controlled by something unseen. He blinked, confusion flickering across his glowing eyes.
“Where… am I?” His voice was deeper, layered with something ancient.
Naabi’s heart pounded. This wasn’t just Jae-min.
This was something else.
The Spirit Within
“Jae-min, you need to focus,” Naabi urged, stepping closer despite the energy crackling around him.
He turned to her, his glowing gaze locking onto hers. For a moment, the golden light flickered—familiarity returning to his features.
Then—he gasped, clutching his head. The glow in his eyes flickered wildly, his body trembling.
“Something is inside me,” he gritted out. “It’s—too much—I can’t—”
Naabi reached for him instinctively. “You can control it. You have to!”
Jae-min stumbled forward, his breath ragged. The vines around them quivered, responding to his energy. The wooden beams of the cabin creaked under the weight of his uncontrolled power.
Then—a deep voice echoed in the room.
"He is not ready."
Naabi’s blood ran cold.
The voice didn’t come from Jae-min.
It came from within him.
An Ancient Warning
The golden light around Jae-min flickered, and suddenly, he collapsed.
Naabi rushed forward, catching him before he hit the floor. His breathing was unsteady, but his eyes were returning to normal. The golden glow faded, leaving only exhaustion in its wake.
Greenforest remained on guard, scanning the room. “That voice…”
Naabi swallowed hard. Who—or what—had just spoken?
Jae-min groaned weakly, his head resting against Naabi’s shoulder. “Naabi…”
“I’m here,” she whispered, holding him close.
His voice was barely audible. “Something… woke up inside me.”
Naabi tightened her grip. “We’ll figure it out.”
She looked up at Greenforest, determination burning in her eyes. “We have to.”
Because this wasn’t just about Jae-min anymore.
This was about something much bigger.
And whatever had just awakened—it wasn’t going to stay silent for long.
