The rest of high school continues like this. I didn’t think that one exam would take such a toll on my life as now I’m considered a “troublemaker” for constantly getting in trouble with Alex. The amount of physical altercations we’ve had is insane. Now we’re 18 going on our fourth year of this nonsense and we’re in detention... again. This time Leslie got involved and also ended up in detention with us... again. The three of us sit there with no one else in detention. Why? Because it’s the last month of high school for seniors. Who wants to go to detention the last month. We sit there in silence until Leslie speaks up. “To think you two are going to college soon and still argue like children.” I can practically sense Alex’s irritation at her comment as I feel the same way but we keep our mouths shut to not extend our stays at detention. I glare at Alex as this was all his fault and he glares back. I wonder if he blames me for this. Soon he speaks up as the teacher who was keeping an eye on us left for a moment to do god knows what. “If you think this is my fault you’re wrong” I knew he was gonna say something along those lines and that flared up my “anger issues” as Leslie calls them. I stand up and get in his face. “I knew you were gonna say that but I wasn’t the one who threw a paper ball at you, you idiot!” He stands up telling back “had you just kept calm and not overrated as if I threw a brick at you no one would be here right now!” I can see Leslie rub her temples in irritation I felt bad for her at times but right now I’m too annoyed at Alex to feel guilt. We start arguing over whose fault it was before Leslie speaks up, shutting the both of us up. “You two argue like a married couple.” She says with a sigh before standing up to see eye to eye with us. She crosses her arms and looks at our shocked expressions. She always called us childish or stupid for our constant bickering but this time she said that we argued like a married couple like how she used to say when we were freshmen. “I thought you got over the whole fantasy of shipping us.” Alex said with a scoff, annoyed by her comment. “I never got over or gave up on it. I think you two are perfect for each other I’ve just been waiting for you two to click on your own.” We both just stay quiet and sit back down. I can’t tell if she was being serious or if this was just a way to shut us up but no mater what it was it worked.
Finally graduation rolls around the corner and somehow me and Alex got in trouble three more times after that time in detention. Anyways graduation was fun and me and Leslie enjoyed the little personal party we held back at her place. She invited practically all seniors for a pool party and of course that includes Alex. I sit down by the edge of the pool which is packed with people. All you can hear is the music blasting and the murmuring of the people around you. Kids are drinking or smoking while others are swimming, and you have those few couples making out like always. I look at the water which is flashing all these different colors as Leslie turned on the lights in in the pool since it’s dark out. Holding my drink I sit up from the chair I was in and crouch by the pools water, putting my drink down beside it and feeling the warmnth with my hand... that is until I feel someone else hand on my back and next thing I know I’m in the water. The warm feeling of water immediately surrounds my body before I raise to the surface with a gasp, looking around as I rub my wet hair out of my face and my eyes land on Alex who’s smirking like an idiot. “You asshole!” I yell out at him as he just continues that stupid smile. He reaches out a mocking hand and snatched it away to irritate me further. As he does that I don’t move so he doesn’t expect me to quickly grab his hand and pull him in with me which causes him to fall into the water beside me, splashing all over me. I start cracking up as he raises his head and glares at me but due to my ongoing laughter he can’t help but let out a snicker too. Next thing I know we’re slightly getting along. As I was laughing he splashed me and I splashed him back and now we’re playing like kids. I guess without the stress of having to one up each other all the time hanging out wouldn’t be that bad. We finally get out of the pool along with everyone else to play some nice party games. Of course that’s when arguments between me and him started again. “You didn’t beat me these darts are rigged you cheated!” He yells out at me which causes me to grow annoyed “how do you cheat in darts!? Just accept the fact you lost and move on!” The rest of the night carries on with our bickering going on in the background most of it. Finally the night comes to an end and we’re all heading home I’m walking there with the thought that today’s my last day of high school and I’ll never have to see Alex again. Or so I thought.
