I don’t remember when I fell asleep, but when I did, my mind played the cruelest trick on me.
It started with something simple—the NEET exam hall.
I was sitting in the middle row, my OMR sheet in front of me. The clock ticked loudly, and my hands were shaking. I looked at the first question.
"A car is moving with uniform acceleration..."
I tried to read further, but the words kept disappearing. The more I focused, the more they blurred into nothingness. I looked around. Everyone else was solving their paper effortlessly. Pens moving, heads down, no hesitation.
My fingers clenched the pen harder. I flipped to Biology. Surely, at least Bio would be easy. But the letters on the page melted into gibberish. The diagrams of cells turned into monstrous faces, laughing at me.
My breath hitched. I was suffocating.
Then, the examiner's voice boomed.
"Time's up! OMR sheets collected."
"No… wait… I haven’t answered anything!"
But it was too late. The paper was snatched away. I looked down—my OMR was blank.
Nothing.
Zero.
I turned to Aarav. He was smiling, waving his OMR in the air. "Bhai, 720 aa raha hai!" Others around me were celebrating. Everyone was passing. Except me.
I felt my chair vanish beneath me. The floor beneath cracked open like an abyss, pulling me into darkness.
---
I woke up gasping for air.
The room was silent. It took me a second to realize—just a dream. But my heart was still pounding.
I checked the time. 3:47 AM.
Sweat dripped down my forehead. My body was cold, but my mind was burning with one thought—
"What if this wasn't just a dream? What if this was my reality?"
I sat up. Looked at my books. They lay untouched.
I grabbed my Physics book and flipped to the chapter on motion.
There was only one way to stop the nightmare from becoming real.
I had to fight back.
