episode 5

As soon as he noticed Ashley, he stood up and greeted her. They had a small conversation. Mr. Hemlocks asked her to take a seat and she did. She took a seat not far from mr. Hemlocks. Mr. Hemlocks also took his seat. On the other side of Ashley sat two boys. They looked to be about the same age as Ashley. They looked exactly the same, the only difference being their clothes. Both of them looked just like mr. Hemlocks, the same green, emerald eyes and dark black hair.

-"These are my two sons, Casius and Palvis.",- said mr. Hemlocks.

-"I'm Casius",- said the boy sitting closest to mr. Hemlocks. He was wearing a black shirt, while his brother, who was sitting next to him, was wearing a white shirt. Ashley noticed that Palvis's nails were painted black.

Ashley greeted them. Palvis didn't say anything only, only nodding while stuffing his face with an omelet.

The moment Ashley got into her chair she was served an enormous platter of food. Eggs, ham, piles of fried potatoes. A tureen of fruit sits in ice to keep it chilled. The basket of rolls they set before her made Ashley wanting to try it. There's an elegant glass of orange juice.

The food was delicious. As she started eating she soon realized that she couldn't stop - it was just too good! As she ate mr. Hemlocks told her about the manor and how he was sure that she would have an amazing time and stay. Ashley just nodded like Palvis had before. All of a sudden mr. Hemlocks turned to the twins and asked,-"Where's your brother?"

-"I dunno, haven't seen him since last evening.",- said Casius.

-"What about you Palvis, surely he wouldn't have been in his room since then, right?"

-"I also don't know father.",- Palvis replied

-"I see...".

After that all four ate in silence. When they finally finished eating breakfast mr. Hemlocks told the twins to show Ashley around as he hurried into the depths of the mansion.

The twins lead Ashley into the garden.

The lake-side air was pungent with the fragrance of jasmine. This was no natural basin filled with melt water, but the luxury addition to a formal garden by an earl with both copious leisure time and money. The twins stopped and Ashley stepped closer to the edge and crouched down. From six feet up the surface was an opaque green, but from just two it was clear enough to see the plants and life below the surface. She had expected the highly coloured japanese Koi Carp and she wasn't disappointed, if anything she was impressed. They were huge and numerous, each about as long as her arm. She gazed across the wind-ruffed surface to the lily pads in bloom, their white or magenta petals catching the breeze. She inhaled slowly. Peace.
