Noah stumbled toward the door, his legs weak beneath him. With shaking hands, he locked it, twisting the bolt until he heard the faint click. His breath hitched as he leaned his forehead against the cold wood, his fingers clutching the seashell necklace that once felt so precious.
A choked sob escaped his lips. His chest ached, the weight of betrayal pressing down on him like an anchor dragging him into the depths. Tears streamed down his face, falling onto the floor in silent agony.
He had been a fool.
His knees gave out, and he collapsed onto the wooden floor, curling into himself. The house was quiet—too quiet. The absence of Thalassius’s warmth, his voice, his touch, was unbearable.
Noah squeezed his eyes shut, gripping the necklace so tightly it left marks on his palm. His body trembled as more sobs wracked through him.
He had let himself believe in something that was never real.
And now, he was alone.
Noah angrily shoved his clothes into his bag, wiping his tear-streaked face as he moved around the room. He had had enough. Enough of lies, enough of heartbreak. He was going back to his mother—far away from the ocean, far away from him.
But then, a sudden knock at the door made him freeze.
His breath hitched. He already knew who it was.
Slowly, he walked toward the door, hesitating for only a moment before swinging it open. And there he stood—Thalassius.
The merman’s piercing gaze locked onto Noah’s, his expression unreadable. Noah felt his chest tighten, anger and sorrow mixing inside him like a storm.
“Go away,” Noah said, his voice trembling. “I don’t ever want to see you again.”
He turned his back and continued packing, trying to ignore the way his hands shook.
“Why are you packing?” Thalassius asked, stepping inside without permission.
Noah clenched his jaw, zipping up his bag. “Because I don’t trust you. I heard everything,” he spat, refusing to meet Thalassius’s eyes. “You were using me. Just like everyone else.”
For a moment, there was silence. Then, in an instant, Noah was pushed onto the bed.
His heart pounded as Thalassius climbed on top of him, his strong arms caging him in.
“You’re not going anywhere,” Thalassius murmured, his voice dark and possessive. “Not until you give me a child.”
Noah’s eyes widened in horror. “What? Get off of me, you stupid sea monster!”
He struggled, trying to push Thalassius away, but the merman grabbed both of Noah’s wrists and pinned them over his head.
“You’re mine, Noah,” Thalassius whispered, his lips brushing against Noah’s ear. “And I won’t let you go.”
Noah struggled beneath Thalassius, his breath coming in short gasps as he glared up at the merman. His wrists ached from how tightly they were pinned above his head.
“Let me go, you damn sea monster!” he snapped, twisting beneath Thalassius’s weight.
But instead of responding, Thalassius leaned closer, his eyes dark with something unreadable. His grip didn’t loosen. Instead, he murmured, “I have baby fever.”
Noah froze. “What?”
Thalassius smirked, his long fingers tracing along Noah’s jawline. “I never liked children before,” he admitted, “but now… I want one.”
Noah’s body tensed, a cold chill running down his spine. “That’s ridiculous! You hate kids! You didn’t even want Elias near you!”
Thalassius tilted his head, his smirk deepening. “I know,” he said smoothly, “but things change.” His eyes gleamed with amusement. “And now, I want my own.”
Noah’s heart pounded in his chest. “W-Well, find someone else! I’m not giving you a child, you lunatic!”
Thalassius chuckled, pressing his forehead against Noah’s. “Oh, but I’ve already chosen you.”
Noah struggled beneath Thalassius, his breath ragged as he tried to free his wrists from the merman’s firm grip. His heart pounded in his chest, confusion and anger swirling in his mind.
"But I'm a male! I can't give birth!" Noah snapped, glaring at Thalassius. "And you're a merman! How would that even work? What would the child even look like? Hideous? And how am I supposed to survive if the child turns out to be a full merman? How will I even eat?"
Thalassius only smirked, his deep ocean-blue eyes glowing with amusement. "Oh, it will only show if the baby is a merman," he explained. "When it grows enough, it will transform you into one too, so you won’t have to worry about things like breathing underwater or food. The ocean will take care of you."
Noah's face paled. "T-Transform me…?"
Thalassius let out a low chuckle, leaning closer until his lips nearly brushed Noah's ear. "And as for the problem of you being a man and not being able to give birth..." He laughed, his voice dripping with mischief. "I'll just have to fill you up over and over until it takes."
Noah's entire body tensed, his face burning red with both shock and fury. "You—you lunatic sea monster! Get off of me!" he shouted, thrashing against Thalassius' grip.
