Chapter 7: Unseen Connections

Mo Xixi walked through the bustling school courtyard, her tiny form blending into the crowd of children. The usual chatter of her classmates echoed around her, but her mind was elsewhere, her thoughts focused on the next steps of her plan. Her recent success in hacking the school's system had been a thrill, but it had also raised a new question: where would this lead? She was still just a child in this life, but she had never been one to wait idly for her destiny to unfold.

Her fingers, still feeling the ghost of the keyboard under her touch, ached for more. But she knew better than to rush; this world was not the one she had left behind. Things were different, and she had to tread carefully. Her actions, as small as they seemed, were already starting to ripple out into the world.

Meanwhile, miles away, the boy from her past life sat in a darkened room, surrounded by glowing monitors. His sharp eyes scanned the encrypted file on his screen, where a peculiar symbol—one that should never have appeared in this world—flickered.

GS.

It was unmistakable. The mark of Ghost Shadow.

His breath caught in his throat, the familiar symbol stirring memories from a life long gone. Ghost Shadow. He remembered the name, the legacy it carried, and the one person who had always been connected to it. Her.

In their past life, Mo Xixi had been a hacker like no other, leaving her mark on every system she infiltrated. The "GS" was her signature, a symbol that both terrified and fascinated those who encountered it. And now, here it was again, in this world—where it shouldn’t be.

The boy—now reincarnated in this world as someone else—felt a strange pull in his chest. How could it be? Mo Xixi, the one who had been lost to him in their past life, was alive in this world? He had never expected this, never imagined that their fates would intertwine again. Yet here it was.

A bitter smile tugged at the corners of his lips. In their past life, he had loved her from afar, too afraid to admit his feelings before tragedy struck. He had never confessed. And now, even in this new life, he couldn’t be certain of how things would unfold. But seeing her mark again… it was like a sign. She was here. She was alive.

He turned to his assistant, a man who had worked with him for years, a loyal confidant.

"Trace the source of this," he ordered in a voice that betrayed none of the turmoil inside him. "I want to know everything about this hacker."

His assistant hesitated, clearly startled by the sudden urgency. "Sir, it seems the mark came from an elementary school. We haven't been able to trace much further than that, but the system logs confirm it."

The boy's eyes narrowed. An elementary school? It didn’t make sense. But then again, nothing about this new life made sense. He had been reborn, his memories of their past world a faint echo in his mind. He had come into this life with no real knowledge of his past, only fragments of a connection to a girl he could never forget.

"Elementary school," he murmured, almost to himself. "That’s where she is, then. Mo Xixi."

The assistant stood silently, sensing the shift in his boss’s demeanor. "What are your orders, sir?"

"Keep an eye on it," the boy said, his gaze turning cold as ice. "I will handle this. Make sure no one finds out who I am in this life. It’s time to see if the past truly repeats itself."

---

Back at the school, Mo Xixi felt the familiar flutter of excitement in her chest. Her hack had been successful, and she had made her mark. But what now? She didn’t know who was watching her—didn’t know that her past was already beginning to collide with her present.

She was still just a child, and yet, the wheels of fate were turning faster than she could have imagined. The mysterious boy, the one who had been part of her past life, was already aware of her existence. In the shadows, he was watching, analyzing, waiting for the right moment to step forward. His connection to her would soon become undeniable, and their fates, once again, would intertwine.

But for now, Mo Xixi continued with her plans, unaware of the silent figure watching her from afar. She was building her future, piece by piece, while the boy—who had once loved her in a past life—watched from the edges of her world, waiting for the moment when their paths would finally cross.

And when that moment came, everything would change.
