I wake up to the sound of rain- not the soft rain which lulls you to sleep. Violent, loud and dark . A heavy endless rain.
My clothes are damp , as if I've been running through the heavy rain. I find myself in a train, which was still and unmoving, without any electricity standing in the middle of nowhere, between endless field with long grasses on one side and the other side hidden by mist.
Long grasses were swaying in the violent nature of the wind. The grasses were charcoal black, as if staring into a void.
I don't remember how I got here, beside me just a flashlight; and in crooked handwriting- only a simple note.
When the sky turns white, run. Follow the light. Don't trust her.
I was interrupted by the sound of a knock , coming from the half open door of the train. I freeze in my tracks and listen.
Once
Twice
Silence...
In the pitch black darkness, i pick the flash light beside me and move it around.
I hear slow scraping of the metal and i stiffen in fear , the low sound of metal scraping is followed by a loud banging on the train roof . I look outside the window and see the grass, black like charcoal, moving towards the train- or maybe towards me. Growing like tentacles.
My gaze falls upon the roof of the train.
Don't move,they can see.
I stop in my tracks as a shiver runs down my spine. My breathing as slow as a soft whisper . Flashlight flickers in my hand and dies. The whole train being swallowed by darkness .
The wind shifts and I feel a gaze upon me, as if testing me. But I stay still. The low scraping of metal continues.
I hear a low voice, raspy and rough as if mimicking a human voice.
Found you.
I don't react . I remember the words written on the roof of train.
Don't move, they can see.
The heavy downpour of rain continues and I hear the sound of someone- or something crawling upon the roof. I breathe slowly, looking upon the withdrawing tentacles on the field, and the sound of crawling- it soon passes.
I breathe in relief and read the note again.
When the sky turns white, run. Follow the light. Don't trust her.
Who is her? What does it mean when sky turns white?
Soon, as if responding to my question. Which is very unlikely. Far off the black field, small lights begin to flicker like small lanterns in the sky. My heart pounds heavily.
Without thinking I take the chance and dash out of the train towards the light. The field was hidden in mist, but I continue running . My boots splashing down on the pitch black grass .
The lights shift position, as if guiding me to my path. Behind me, I hear loud inhuman shriek.
I don't look back. I continue running, as the tentacles rise from the field and claw at my legs. I push my limits and use all my strength to continue running against the tentacles , which were trying to hold me back. After what I feel is eternity, I see a town ahead.
Panting out of breath, i leave the field behind and enter the town. The first thing I see is an alleyway. And in the alleyway, a women was standing wearing a white hood, her posture calm as if waiting for someone. I walk towards her in relief, finally seeing a human after all these experiences .
She raises a hand , beckoning me towards her.
You made it, come with me. You can rest now.
But I soon stop on my tracks.
I remember the note in my palms.
When the sky turns white, run. Follow the light. Don't trust her.
