The air was still, heavy with the aftermath of Nero’s awakening. But it was far from over. From the shattered trees and blood-soaked ground, Malek rose, coughing dark mist.
"You think… that was enough?" Malek growled, his body cracking, dark veins pulsing through his skin. "I am the Blood Wraith… you will regret letting me live!"
Before anyone could react, Malek’s body exploded with crimson energy. The sky turned dark, the ground trembled, and a horde of demonic beasts emerged — winged demons, shadow hounds, and horned giants.
Nero stepped forward, his golden pupils gleaming. “Stay back. I’ll handle this.”
Kain grabbed his arm. “You’re still injured—”
“I said stay back!” Nero’s voice was cold, almost demonic.
With a roar, the first wave of beasts charged. Kain, Ezren, and Lena instinctively moved to defend, but Nero was already gone — a blur of red and black.
Nero appeared above the charging horde, eyes glowing. “Crimson Execution.”
From his body, red energy blades shot out in every direction, slicing through dozens of beasts instantly. Blood rained down, the sky stained red.
Malek laughed, unfazed. “Good… GOOD! Show me that power!”
Malek lunged forward, his blade clashing with Nero’s. The ground cracked beneath their feet as they exchanged brutal blows, faster than eyes could follow.
Meanwhile, more beasts swarmed the others. Kain roared, his sword igniting with blue flames. “You want a fight?! COME ON!”
Ezren’s blood arts surged — spears, chains, and blades made of crimson energy ripped through demons. “They just don’t stop!”
Lena’s magic shimmered around them, barriers and explosions raining down. “We can’t hold forever!”
Kain grinned through bloodied lips. “Then we die fighting!”
Suddenly, a giant horned demon grabbed Kain, crushing him. Kain screamed, sword flailing.
Ezren roared, blood chains wrapping around the demon’s arms. “LET HIM GO!”
The demon snarled, tightening its grip—until Nero appeared, slashing through the demon’s neck in a single stroke.
“You’re too slow,” Nero growled.
Kain fell to his knees, panting. “Damn… I owe you one.”
But Malek wasn’t done. He hovered in the air, summoning a blood-red sphere pulsing with cursed energy.
“This is it! Die with your precious friends!” Malek screamed, hurling the sphere down.
The sky tore apart as the sphere fell.
Nero clenched his fists. “Stay back… I’ll end this.”
With a mighty roar, Nero’s aura erupted. He leapt, meeting the sphere mid-air, and unleashed everything he had.
“DIE!”
The explosion shook the heavens, light blinding, the ground splitting apart. For a moment — silence.
When the dust settled, Nero stood alone, panting, blood dripping. The beasts were gone. Malek was gone.
Kain staggered forward. “Is it… over?”
Ezren fell to his knees. “We’re alive…”
Nero didn’t answer. His eyes, golden and cold, stared at the sky.
This… is just the beginning.
The battlefield was drenched in the blood of demons and warriors alike. The once green plains had become a wasteland of destruction. Craters and scorched earth stretched as far as the eye could see. The heavy stench of blood lingered in the air, choking every breath.
Ezren trembled, his body barely able to stay upright. “We… we should’ve died back there,” he whispered, his voice hoarse.
Lena, leaning against a broken tree, wiped the blood from her face. “If it weren’t for Nero… we wouldn’t be standing.”
Kain forced himself up, his eyes on Nero. “What the hell was that power, Nero? You… you didn’t just fight… you dominated.”
But Nero stood still, his mind racing. Deep within, he felt the curse burning — a new power clawing for control. His golden pupils flickered, an uneasy sensation crawling up his spine.
“I don’t know… but it’s not over,” Nero muttered under his breath. He knew Malek was just the beginning. Stronger enemies awaited. He could feel it.
A cold wind blew, sending shivers down their spines. Somewhere in the shadows, something… someone… watched them.
The true war was only beginning.
