Episode 8

“Are you done with it, Yvan?” I asked immediately upon his arrival. He kneeled in front of me and bowed his head as a sign of approval. I breathed a sigh of relief.

“That's great. Thank you,” I said, touching his head. I had asked him to erase the memories of the people who had seen him here.

Duke Eléftheros, Sean, Carter, and Innocence forgot what happened last night. Except, of course, for the High Priest. Luis. In fact, he often visited me here in my confinement, to watch over me.

Yvan was in his Phoenix Form. The black smoke that formed his body was enormous. His feathers were hard, but I found them comfortable. He shifted back to his human form.

“Master. Luis is stopping by here again. Do you want me to block his way here?” he asked softly. I shook my head. “It's fine, Yvan. Don't worry. I can handle it,” I said.

He nodded silently at me. I asked him about the details of Innocence's coming of age. It was nearing. In two days, it would happen.

It was my two months here of being grounded, which I found very advantageous because I wouldn't be able to see those annoying faces.

Carter, Sean, and Luis had been pestering me for days. If I didn't meet them, they wouldn't leave. Of course, I couldn't order Yvan to shove them away because, again, what was the point of erasing their memories if they saw my mythical guard?

“Madame Malaya. The Doctor is here to check your condition,” the servant told me. I turned to look at Yvan. “Shrink and hide yourself,” I ordered. He shapeshifted into a black cat and went away.

Yes, he could shapeshift. I found it very amusing too. But anyway, the arrogant-lovesick Doctor was here. I had to open the door for him.

Duke Eléftheros' strict orders. If I didn't obey, they might extend my suspension.

As soon as he opened the locked door, I immediately took the paper he was carrying from his hand. I put my stats on it and gave him a fake smile.

I handed it to him right away. I didn't give him a chance to enter my room. “There, you have it. You can go,” I smiled at him. Sweetly, but all fake.

His eyes wandered my body piercingly. “Your father told me to check you thoroughly— ”

“Oh, come on. Stop doing this. I know you don't want to see me. Me, either. So please just leave.” I looked at him intently. He furrowed his brow.

“You're not disobeying your Father's orders again.” he said coldly. I couldn't help but roll my eyes at him. “Oh well, of course I will disobey. You can't do anything about it,” I said.

He stared at me with a tight jaw. His eyes were dark, but I wasn't scared. “Go now. Don't stress yourself too much. Maybe your beloved Innocence won't like you,” I teased.

I immediately closed the door. The door was being knocked hard. I also heard him curse outside and his angry call for my name. It was only a matter of time before I heard a familiar voice. Again.

I hissed. Why did they have to come all at once? It's not like I'm going to escape here! If I wanted to escape, I would have ordered Yvan to destroy this place and fly me away from here! But of course, I wanted it to end peacefully, not to cause a ruckus and commotion!

“What's going on here?” Luis. The f-cking High Priest asked. Sean stopped knocking loudly. He sighed heavily, and I knew for sure how he was eyeing me with just the door blocking us.

I felt it. “She's inside. I was supposed to check her condition, but she's not cooperating,” he snorted. I hissed loudly! Ha! Sean and his stupid ways! Maybe he thought he would just insult me!

“I can do it. Just tell Duke Eléftheros that I will assess his daughter,” Luis said formally. “Duke Eléftheros told me to do it myself. It's not your job, High Priest Luis.” Sean's tone was emphasized.

I could only hear Luis' silence. The annoying Doctor said something else. “I have noticed that you often visit Malaya. You don't have connections with her, right? Why are you constantly visiting her here?” Sean straightforwardly claimed to Luis.

I listened to their conversation. Luis was still silent, but I could foresee his brows arched right now with his straight smile, as if he was urging himself to stop from lashing out. Eventually, he sighed.

“Just tell Duke Eléftheros about it. Your healing powers are far from mine. You can't equal my Divine Healing, Doctor Sean.” His tone was mocking.

I heard the door unlock. My eyes widened. He had keys! D-mn it! Where did he get those? “Don't worry. I'm not helping her escape. Like you, I'm just obliged to check her condition too.” He said.

He entered the small opening of the door. I was standing behind it. Staring at him deadly and lifelessly. He looked at me seriously. I only raised my brows at him.

Then I heard Sean's last words. “You better not think about helping her escape. She's suspended.” Sean said coldly. I heard his footfalls walking away, little by little.

He seemed insulted by the High Priest's words. While Luis was just looking at me blankly here, as if he hadn't just said something insulting. Seriously? Is he even a High Priest? Or is he dumb to make his words like that?

Luis immediately closed the door. I distanced myself from him. He could use his Divine Retribution right here and right now, so I had to be careful.

“I'm here to check your condition. The Crown Prince's order.” He uttered coldly. I looked at him intently. First, Duke Eléftheros, and now Carter's orders? Why were they so eager to interfere?

Couldn't they check themselves?

“And you think I consider your brother's orders as absolute? Why don't you tell him to stop this madness of yours?” I exclaimed.

I'm referring to these visits and almost everyday check-ups! They always had excuses!

He stepped towards me. I took steps back. “Yvan,” I called. My Yvan in Human Form materialized in front of me. He quickly took a stance and pointed his sword at Luis.

Almost touching the High Priest's jaw, he did it perfectly. I faced Luis. “In case you forgot. Your mortal enemy is here,” I smirked.

But he still didn't react. He took a step back gracefully. He looked at us, eyeing me coldly. Yvan was still in his stance.

“You sinful little girl,” Luis said coldly.
