Episode 11 – Rushing to the Hospital & A Tough Decision
Vanessa drives as fast as she can to the hospital, her hands gripping the steering wheel tightly. Her heart races as she thinks about what could’ve happened to Harry and the kids.
She arrives at the hospital and rushes inside. A nurse guides her to the emergency room, where she sees Harry lying in a hospital bed, looking weak but awake. Janessa and Jason sit beside him, looking worried but unharmed.
Vanessa exhales in relief. "What the hell happened?"
Harry sighs. "Car accident. Some idiot ran a red light. I swerved to protect the kids, but the car flipped."
Vanessa feels her stomach drop. "Are you okay?"
Harry gives a weak smile. "I’ll be fine. Just some broken ribs."
Janessa speaks up, her voice trembling. "Mom, the car is completely destroyed…"
Vanessa runs her hands through her hair, frustrated. She had just bought that car, and now it's gone. But more importantly, her family is safe.
The doctor enters, checking Harry’s chart. "He’ll need to stay here for a couple of days for observation, but he’s stable."
Vanessa nods, then takes a deep breath. She has a company to run, but her family needs her too.
Back to Business?
Later that night, Vanessa sits alone outside the hospital, lighting a cigarette and thinking. The wrestling company is just starting to grow, and she can't afford to step away. But at the same time, Harry and the kids need her.
Her phone buzzes. Marcus, her construction manager, is calling.
She answers. "Talk to me."
"Vanessa, we’ve got problems. There’s an issue with the ring setup, and the arena lighting isn’t working properly."
Vanessa exhales a cloud of smoke. More problems.
"Figure it out, Marcus. I’m dealing with something serious right now."
Marcus hesitates, then says, "Look, if you need to step away, I can handle things on my end."
Vanessa thinks about it. For the first time, she realizes she can’t do everything alone.
"Fine," she finally says. "Handle it. I’ll be back soon."
As she puts out her cigarette, she looks up at the hospital windows where Harry and the kids are resting.
For the first time in a long time, Vanessa wonders… is all of this worth it?
