Hiring the Vice Assistant

Vanessa King sat in her office, a cigarette between her fingers, scrolling through the list of applicants for her Vice Assistant. She needed someone sharp, ruthless, and willing to do whatever it takes.

A knock on the door.

“Come in,” she said, exhaling smoke.

A man walked in—Dominic Carter, 33 years old. He was tall, well-dressed in a sharp suit, and carried himself like he already owned the place. He handed her his résumé.

Vanessa skimmed through it:

Managed contract negotiations for over 50 wrestlers

Vanessa looked up at him, impressed. “You got balls, Carter. I like that.”

Dominic smirked. “You need someone who isn’t afraid to make enemies for the sake of business. That’s me.”

She leaned back, inhaling from her cigarette. “You’re hired.”

Referee Department

Vanessa grabbed her cigarette-stained notebook and jotted down her next move: find referees.

She posted on TV ads, newspapers, and social media, looking for experienced referees willing to work in a new wrestling company.

Vanessa and Dominic spent weeks scouting gyms, fight clubs, and amateur wrestling events.

Nothing.

No one was good enough.
