[Adrian was beginning to think he had fallen into some elaborate trap. Isla had been acting strangely lately—stranger than usual. And that was saying something.]

(muttering to himself, staring at Isla across the courtyard) What is she up to now…?
[Isla, as if sensing his gaze, slowly turned to face him. But instead of her usual sharp smirk or exasperated sigh, she… tilted her head and smiled—softly. Sweetly. Almost… playfully?]

(blinking rapidly) What the—

(walking over, her steps unhurried, voice light) You’re staring, Adrian.
Adrian Elivara ( Crown prince/mc)
(clears throat, quickly looking away) I’m not.
Isla Rosewood (princess/fl)
(leans in slightly, voice dropping) Oh? So you just happened to be burning holes into me with your eyes for no reason?
[Adrian stiffened. There was something different about the way she was looking at him. Something unsettling. Isla had always been unpredictable, but this? This was… dangerous.]

(shifting uncomfortably) Why are you acting so strange lately?
Isla Rosewood (princess/fl)
(smiling, brushing nonexistent dust off his shoulder) Strange? Oh, Adrian. I’m just treating you the way you should be treated.

(heart skips a beat, brows furrowing) And what exactly does that mean?
Isla Rosewood (princess/fl)
(tilts her head, lips curving into a knowing smile) Wouldn’t you like to know?
[Adrian’s heart gave a traitorous thud. He clenched his jaw, trying to focus, but every time she leaned in a little too close, every time her voice softened just enough—it was like his body had a mind of its own.]

(internally screaming) Why. Why does she keep doing that? And why does my heart keep—
[Isla suddenly reached out, lightly tapping his chest, right where his heart was racing beneath his clothes.]
Isla Rosewood (princess/fl)
(humming) Your heart’s beating awfully fast, Adrian.
Adrian Elivara ( Crown prince/mc)
(stiffening, swallowing hard) It’s—It’s not!
Isla Rosewood (princess/fl)
(chuckles) Oh, but it is. (leans in, whispering near his ear) I wonder… is it because of me?
Adrian Elivara ( Crown prince/mc)
(jerks back like he’s been burned, face heating up) You—You’re insufferable!
Isla Rosewood (princess/fl)
(grinning) And yet, here you are, still standing right in front of me.
[Adrian turned on his heel and practically stormed away, but the problem was—he could still feel the warmth of her touch, still hear her teasing voice in his ears, and worst of all—his heart was still racing like a fool.]

(muttering under his breath) What the hell is wrong with me…?

(watching him go, smirking to herself) Oh, Adrian… you’ll figure it out eventually.
