Zenny never expected to step foot into the Royal Academy, let alone wear its pristine uniform.
Yet, here he was standing at the entrance, dressed in the finest clothes he'd ever owned.
His academy uniform was tailored almost too perfectly, hugging his small frame like it had been made just for him. The white collared shirt was neatly pressed, tucked into high-waisted black trousers that made him look oddly proper for once. A deep blue vest, embroidered with silver thread, added a touch of elegance-but the real highlight was the capelet draped over his shoulders, marking him as an official student of Navenia's prestigious magic academy.
It was all because of Prince Vaelion.
After their misadventures, Zenny had assumed the prince only saw him as an annoying jester, a toy to play with when bored. But a few nights ago, he overheard a conversation that changed everything.
(A Few Days Earlier)
"You want to what?" the king's voice rang through the throne room, deep and skeptical.
Vaelion sighed, leaning lazily against one of the pillars. "I want Zenny to study at the academy."
The king arched a brow. "Since when do you care about his education?"
Vaelion scoffed. "I don't." He shrugged. "But the idiot has magic, and if he doesn't learn how to control it, he'll be a disaster waiting to happen."
The king leaned back on his throne, arms crossed. "And what if he embarrasses you?"
Vaelion smirked, his icy blue eyes gleaming. "Then that's my problem to deal with."
The king was silent for a moment before finally waving a hand. "Do as you please."
A few days later, Zenny found himself in the academy's enrollment office-with his acceptance papers already signed.
(The Academy Gates)
Now, standing at the academy gates, Zenny gulped. This was **really happening.
"Finally!" he cheered, bouncing on his heels. "I'm so excited to finally be able to go to school!" He twirled in place, admiring the massive stone towers of the academy. "I can finally learn how to control my magic properly and-"
A familiar voice drawled behind him.
"You sure are really excited, huh?"
Zenny jumped, spinning around to find none other than Prince Vaelion standing behind him-looking unfairly good in his uniform.
Unlike Zenny's cute, fitted attire, Vaelion's uniform had an undeniable regal charm. His navy-blue jacket was perfectly tailored, accentuating his broad shoulders and lean figure. His long white cape, embroidered with silver and gold, draped over one side, marking his royal status. His usual lazy smirk played on his lips as he looked down at Zenny.
Zenny's face heated up.
Not fair. No one should be allowed to look that good this early in the morning.
"Pr-Princy!!" Zenny stammered, gripping his bag straps.
Vaelion chuckled, stepping closer. Too close. "What, already flustered? And here I thought you'd be a confident little jester."
Zenny pouted, puffing out his cheeks. "Shut up! I was just-uh, admiring the school!"
Vaelion hummed, his eyes flicking over Zenny's uniform with amusement. "You look like a lost puppy in that uniform."
Zenny gasped. "I do not!!"
"You do." Vaelion's smirk widened. Then, without warning, he reached out and flicked Zenny's forehead.
"Ow!!" Zenny clutched his forehead, glaring.
"Come on, let's go," Vaelion said, casually draping an arm over Zenny's shoulder as they walked toward the entrance.
Zenny, still blushing, huffed under his breath.
(Magic Classification)
Each new student had to undergo magic classification to determine what type of magic they possessed.
Students stepped one by one into a glowing arcane circle, which revealed their aura. Based on the results, they were assigned to one of two sections:
(Elemental Section) - for those with elemental magic (Fire, Ice, Water, Earth, Wind, Lightning, Light, and Dark).
- This section was filled with noble-born students, including Prince Vaelion.
(Peculiar Section) - for those with uncommon or unstable magic that needed further study.
- Highly secured. Home to the most unpredictable powers.
Zenny suddenly felt nervous.
"Princy, I-I'm scared," he whispered, gripping Vaelion's sleeve.
Vaelion rolled his eyes but didn't push him away. "Don't be stupid. Just get it over with."
A school staff member arrived. "Your Highness! And you must be Zenny?"
Zenny nodded hesitantly.
The staff smiled. "Come along. I'll guide you through the process."
Vaelion patted Zenny's head, ruffling his hair. "Try not to blow up the school."
"Hey!!"
Zenny watched reluctantly as Vaelion walked away, heading toward the Elemental Section.
Now, he was alone.
(Stepping Into the Arcane Circle)
Inside the magic classification room, Zenny stood in line, watching as students revealed their auras.
Some glowed with flames, others had shimmering water-like auras. There were even some with dazzling **golden orbs of light.
Then, it was his turn.
Zenny took a deep breath and stepped into the circle.
A sudden burst of energy filled the room. The glowing symbols beneath him flared brighter and brighter** until the entire chamber was bathed in blinding violet light.
Gasps echoed around him.
"A peculiar magic user!" someone shouted.
The light finally faded, and Zenny was handed a paper with his classification.
Peculiar Magic.
He swallowed hard. He wasn't even sure what that meant... but judging from the looks he was getting, **it wasn't good.**
(Meeting Zoey & The Rumors)
After being assigned to the Peculiar Section, Zenny was guided to his new classroom.
As he entered, all eyes turned to him.
"Oooh, a new classmate!" someone chimed.
"What a cute newbie," another added, making Zenny flinch.
Before he could say anything, the professor walked in. "Class, we have a new student. Introduce yourself."
Zenny fidgeted before giving an awkward wave. "H-Hi everyone! I'm Zenny... it's nice meeting you a-all!"
A girl sitting beside him chuckled. "You're adorable." She held out a hand. "I'm Zoey."
Hesitantly, Zenny shook her hand. "Nice to meet you..."
As class continued, Zoey filled him in on all the school rumors.
One, in particular, made Zenny shiver.
Apparently, a former student in their section lost control of his power, went mad, and vanished. But after he disappeared, students started going missing.Their bodies were later found in the dark woods- pale, wrinkled, drained of life.
Zenny's stomach twisted.
"Don't worry," Zoey said cheerfully. "That was a long time ago. The school is totally safe now... probably."
Zenny gulped.
(After School )
At the end of the day, Zenny rushed to the academy gates, looking for Vaelion.
"Princy!!" he waved excitedly.
Vaelion sighed dramatically. "Great. The little bean sprout survived."
Zenny pouted. "Of course I did!!"
Vaelion smirked. "Come on, then. Let's go home."
With that, they stepped into the royal carriage, ending Zenny's first day at the academy.
To be continued...
