Raven began to speak, his voice low and hypnotic. "The prophecy speaks of a great imbalance in the timeline," he said. "A powerful artifact has been stolen, one that could alter the course of history forever."

James's eyes widened as Raven continued. "The artifact is hidden in a temple deep within the heart of a nearby mountain range. But be warned, the temple is guarded by fearsome creatures and deadly traps."

Kiya nodded, her expression serious. "We need to retrieve the artifact and restore balance to the timeline."

Raven smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Ah, but it's not that simple. You see, the temple is also home to a powerful entity, one that will stop at nothing to keep the artifact out of your hands."

James felt a shiver run down his spine. What kind of entity was Raven talking about?

"What do you mean?" James asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

Raven leaned in, his voice taking on a conspiratorial tone. "The entity is a powerful sorceress, one who has been awakened by the theft of the artifact. She will not give it up easily."

Kiya's eyes narrowed. "What's in it for you, Raven? Why are you helping us?"

Raven smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Let's just say I have a vested interest in the outcome. The sorceress has something that belongs to me, and I aim to get it back."

James's mind was racing with questions. What did Raven have to gain from this? And what kind of sorceress were they up against?

But before he could ask any questions, Kiya stood up. "We need to get moving. We have a long journey ahead of us."

Raven nodded, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Indeed you do. And I'll be joining you on this journey."

James's eyes widened in surprise. What did Raven have planned?

But before he could ask any questions, Raven turned and disappeared into the night, leaving James and Kiya to ponder their next move.

James and Kiya set off towards the mountain range, determined to retrieve the artifact and restore balance to the timeline. As they journeyed, they noticed that Raven was nowhere to be seen, but they could sense his presence lurking in the shadows.

After several hours of walking, they arrived at the foot of the mountain. The air grew colder and the wind picked up, making it difficult to hear each other.

"We need to be careful," Kiya shouted above the wind. "The temple is said to be cursed, and the creatures that guard it are fierce."

James nodded, his heart racing with anticipation. He had never been one for adventure, but something about this journey felt right.

As they climbed higher, the wind grew stronger, and the air grew colder. James could see his breath misting in front of him, and he wondered how much farther they had to go.

Suddenly, Kiya stopped in her tracks. "Do you hear that?" she whispered.

James listened, and soon he heard it too - the sound of rushing water, growing louder with each passing moment.

"What is it?" James asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

Kiya's eyes gleamed with excitement. "It's the waterfall of the gods. It marks the entrance to the temple."

James's heart skipped a beat as he caught sight of the waterfall. It was breathtakingly beautiful, cascading down the side of the mountain like a river of gold.

But as they approached the waterfall, James felt a strange sensation - as if they were being watched. He turned to Kiya, but she seemed oblivious to the feeling.

"Kiya, I think we're being watched," James whispered.

Kiya's eyes snapped towards him, and she nodded. "I know. I can feel it too."

Suddenly, a figure emerged from the shadows. It was Raven, his eyes glinting with amusement.

"Welcome to the temple," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "I see you've made it past the first test."

James's eyes narrowed. What did Raven mean by the first test?

But before he could ask any questions, Raven turned and disappeared into the waterfall.

"Come on," Kiya said, grabbing James's arm. "We have to follow him."

James nodded, and together they stepped through the waterfall and into the unknown.
