Chapter 5

Yumi and I see Haruto with his brother hanging out with Kevin, so none of them most likely. I see Chan talking with a few girls, although she is the last person I wanted to sit with.

Yumi suddenly grabs my arm and drags me along through and around groups of people. Them we end up standing in front of a stranded and alone Ambie.

“Ambie, do you want to sit with us on the plane? We need a third person. If you do I’ll take middle seat.” I say happily to as she looks up at us.

“C’mon, please?” I make sure my words dramatically long.

“Yes, yes, I will.” She smiles. “I thought I was going to have to sit with people I don’t know, but now I get to sit next to you and Yumi.”

Mr. A call us over so we can all enter the airport together. Yumi, Ambie, and I all walk side by side while talking about random things. We put our luggage on the conveyor belt and board the plane. After about ten minutes or so everyone is on.

Kevin, Haruto, and his brother - who’s name I learned is Isamu from Ambie - sat in thee seats across the isle from us.

Isumu was like the cute nerd type of guy. He was reading just as he was before. He looked similar to Haruto but unless you looked at both of them a little closer you wouldn’t be able to tell they were related.

I started to wonder what he was like because I haven’t spoken to him yet. Then they made the announcement to turn everything on airplane mode and then about all the safety instruction stuff too.

We took off soon enough and I looked past Yumi and put the window, it was exhilarating. We ascended high up into the sky.

I turned back to the screen attached to the seat in front off me and looked at the entertainment options.

Instead of watching something I just put on my headphones and drifted off to sleep. As the noise around me lulled into nothingness I dreamed of what I would accomplish at Opal academy.

After what felt like two seconds, my eyes fluttered open as I realized we were over the ocean. I sat up only to realize Ambie was resting her head as on my shoulder asleep while Yumi was asleep against the wall of plane.

I looked across the isle and saw Kevin and Haruto were sound asleep. However, Isumu was still reading. He seemed to have very few pages left now. I wait patiently until I see him reach the end of whatever chapter he is on.

I smile “what book are you reading Isumu?”

He looks over at me, smiles, and then says “Oh, I’m just reading a book called Turning Dark. It’s actually quite interesting. I could lend it to you after I finish this last chapter.”

“What is it about?” I ask curiously, now intrigued by this book that he’s offering.
